In the beginning, only a usb wifi dongle that has a Ralink RT3070 chipset inside can be used. D-Link DWA-125 wifi dongle has that chipset. However, some people have some problems with this wifi dongle (speed too slow for video streaming). TVpad with fw version newer than 2.42 can also use a wifi dongle with another chipset: RTL8192SU. They recommend the Netcore NW360. I haven't seen any user reports about this wifi dongle, so I am not sure if it will work. I suggest using a wired connection to connect your TVpad, my TVpad also has a wired connection.
thanks! i would but my router and tv are nowhere near, and a massive long cable running through my house isnt an option going for a powerline connection instead.
Yes, the 24-hour TVB News Channel is still working (can be found in the 粵海寬頻 App as well as in the HITV app).
its almost the same quality like on the lily app but why are the other channels in so crappy quality they should also improve J2 and the tvb news channel ..... cmon add the korea app ........
Patience my young Padawan P.S.: Finally found out what those damn .pkg files are!!! As far as I can see, they have nothing to do with Android's .apk files. This is indeed a highly modified Android OS, more like Linux to be honest (even though Android is based on Linux, but you get the idea). My research continues, but I think I deserve some sleep now. I'll provide more info if I ever manage to do something clever with my findings
overall it's a great product, easy to use. discount code : 11473876 can discount $30, website :http://www.tvpad.hk/tvpad/01/index.html
does anyone have any problems on Movies app i have found a Hong Kong Dramas from few years ago that my family would like to watch it again but some how they stop play recently last week and today does it need updated or not?
I think it will take me ages to get any further with my TVPad hacking attempts. I don't have the time anymore as I used to have in a distant lifetime. So for those interested and wanting to help, the .pkg files are compressed with zlib. You can uncompress them for example using this site: http://i-tools.org/gzip (it will rename the files to .dat). The problem is what to do with them once you uncompress them. You probably need the same Android/Linux package manager as the one that is running on the TVPad and you need to be running on a device with the ARMv6 architecture. Basically you need the damn TVPad OS which they seem to be calling GVOS 2.6 and an equivalent hardware. Makes you wonder though. Am I the only "supposedly" hacker out there that owns a TVPad ? If not, then can someone please provide me with a Chinese (Pinyin) word-list for a brute-force attack on what I think is the TVPad's root account ? Btw, just to be clear, I am doing all this as a hobby. Not to cause any damage to TVPad in any way.
NEW TVB APP Initial review Hello TVpad owners. I just posted some screen shots and a quick review of the new TVB app. Check it out!!! Love to have PA support, please like our page! http://www.facebook.com/pages/ToyzMore4u-Club-TVpad/212039942176662
The TVB drama on demand app can be downloaded here: http://www.tvpadfans.com/thread-25932-1-1.html Firmware 2.72 is needed and also 20T forum money. If there aren't any problems, the app will be released on the 14th to the public.
Maybe a stupid question, but where can I download firmware 2.72 ? If I remember correctly, my TVPad came with firmware 2.70.
There will be an upgrade to firmware 2.72 soon. Edit: The firmware upgrade is expected to be released next week according to the admin
Hi all, i got today the tvpad! Just follow the instructionguide, but unfortunately i got the error: 'no wireless lan card' And i am using WiFi... Anybody how to fix this? Thanks in advance, alibi
Not all wifi dongle will work with TVpad. Only older Ralink chipset will work. The recommended wifi is netcore or dlink DMA 125. (don't quote me on the model# I'm just going off my memory). good luck
hi CrazyMoFo thank you for your reply... i have a sitecom router... so u need a usb-stick (netcore or dlink) to use TvPad?
Ok, I'm a little confused with your question. Sounds like you don't even have a usb wifi dongle and just trying to connect your tvpad to your wifi network? Am I correct? TVpad does not come with built in wifi. It requires you to buy a wifi adapter/dongle and it will only work with certain types of wifi adapters such as the one I mentioned above.
