Which channels/apps have the best quality for the Hong Kong channels (TVB, TVB News)?

I usually watch TVB channels using the 粵海寬頻 app. Recently, they added a TVB HD test channel and the quality of this channel is better than before.

Found some interesting things so far:
    - From the console you can easily see the full SopCast URL for the channel that is currently playing on the TVPad.
    - You can connect from a PC to the TVPad to stream the channel that is currently playing (similar to SopCast).

Btw, I do not intend to share the details for the time being. As I mentioned before, I do not want to harm the TVPad business. Just doing this as a hobby. So hopefully by sharing these bits I can encourage other hobbyists to also give it a try. If you brick your TVPad in the process, blame yourself though :)

Oh btw, the device is using a Linux Board Support Package (BSP). I wonder why they have to market this as an Android device though, because I still cannot find anything related to Android. Anyway, some genius must have thought that people would be more attracted to the word Android than Linux.

    Code:
    /proc # cat version
    Linux version 2.6.28 (xxxx@xxxx) (gcc version 4.3.2 (Sourcery G++ Lite 2008q3-72) ) #287 Mon Dec 19 17:36:39 CST 2011

I didn't know Movie Valley required a flash drive to work, it is working now.

Noticed my USB 2GB thumb drive worked this AM and now I can't see it with my TVPad (missing icon on the right). How can I tell how it is mounted or not?

Strange... Once I ejected the TF card, I can see the USB Thumb drive. Any thoughts to why it does this?

I have had similar issues with my TVPad as well. What I had to do at the end was to turn off/on the device with the USB stick inserted into the device. It looks like I do not have this problem anymore though since I upgraded to firmware 2.72.

Just out of curiosity, did any of you tried a class 10 microsd in your TVpad?

Someone on their forum suggested it and it improves the video quality...but not sure if it's true or not.

How much bandwidth per month do you guys use when watching tvpad? I noticed some of the channels stream at +1mb sometimes?

Think other people including myself seems to be able to get away with an ~8mb line. But of course it depends where you are, how many other devices etc. I'm based in the UK and don't have many devices downloading at the same time.

I think that iptv device also has tvb pay channels, however that device is more expensive and you also have to pay a yearly fee. I can't comment about the quality (maybe some channels are really HD quality).

Also, we have to wait for the HK government to open the free-to-air TV market. It may happen in the end of this month.

Lately, I see quite a few iptv devices offering live TV from HK, Taiwan, China. This is a good thing for us if one device is not working anymore. I guess someone will offer these services when there is demand from the public and profit to make.

I think the quality is like the deceased Lily TV app, but there is a lot of ghosting (pay attention when there is a fast moving object). Maybe they are using a low frame rate. Anyway, as long as TVPad stays free, I personally do not see any reason to switch to any other device.

    EDIT:
A few more links for the device:
    http://www.satellitetvthailand.com/product_info.php?products_id=156
    http://www.maige.tv/

The device costs about $312 including 1 year subscription of $78 !!!
