    Movie loading issue.

I'm a big Gundam fan so I was happy to be able to view it via 影视谷 on my TVPad. But when I try to load it up, I get this message (see screen grab). I'm running the newest firmware and the 影视谷2 package/ app. any thoughts? The Stock TF card is also inserted into the TVPad.

reformat your TF card (micro SD) using TVpad. If it still don't work, format it using your computer. Fat32 or NTFS will work.

Thanks.. I'll try that. I suspect it was something like that. But before I attempt the reformat, I figure I should ask first.:whistling:

    (UPDATE). It works!

As a Mac user, to reformat the TF was a bit of a challenge. Since Macs are not set up to read and write NTF files, I looked around the internet and located a shareware called ExtFS from Paragon. You will need to download and install the dmg file. Once it's completed, it will prompt you to restart the system. ExtFS has a manual that will explain how to format the TF card. Since the demo is good for 10 days, if you are just trying to format your single card, you wont need to buy it. But if you do decide to purchase it, It's $40 bucks.

    Here's the link: http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/33374/paragon-ext2-ext3-fs

Just wondering, should I share the modified 2.72 firmware publicly so that other Linux experts (not that I am one) can play with the device ? Or do you guys think it will impact TVPad negatively ? Anyway, it would only be for those who have not upgraded to 2.72 yet, unless they want to experiment with changing the firmware version to force an upgrade.

Just want to say that you are spending WAY too much time on this software.
But hey, THANK YOU for all your hard work and keep up the great job you are doing-clapclap. I hope this is just a hobby for you.
I say keep the modified firmware to yourself. But if the community can improve on it, by all means share it with them. It should be like the "XDA-Developers" forums where people can improve on Android and share the improvements with everyone -batman.

I just have 1 question for you. Since this thing is using Linux, do you think the operating system can run a machine using virtualization?

Yeah, I probably do spend too much time on this :) Just a late night hobby of mine. Still my time is too limited for me to have any sort of major breakthrough.

Well I don't think anyone on those developer's forums have TVPads to play with, so that's probably going to be a bit difficult. So that's why I thought about sharing it here and hope that there are some TVPad owners out there with Telechips TCC8901 development experience. Google for "Telechips Linux BSP" to get an idea what I am talking about.

Uhhh, you want to run a virtual machine on the TVPad ? Or do you mean if you can run the TVPad OS inside a virtual machine ? For the first question, I have no clue yet since it's a customized Linux. For the second question, again I know too little about this at the moment to answer that. You probably need some virtual machine that supports the ARM CPU instruction set. Maybe if you have one of those tablets with Telechips CPU it's easier to flash it with the TVPad OS.

I will google it now. Thanks for the info.

Sorry to confuse you. I mean I want to run the TVPad OS on a virtual machine. I have VMWare on both my Windows and Mac computers. I just need to find a way to install the TVPad OS using VMWare. Do you think it is possible?
    Thanks again.

Hi, my mother in law has a tvpad and she loves it! I'm Korean, and wanted to know if I can get a tvpad to watch Korean shows. When I googled tvpad Korean, I saw many links that sold tvpad version M311, but don't know if they are scams. Does anyone know where I can purchase a tvpad for Korean shows? Thanks for the help.

Buy the Korean TVpad M311 on the official site: http://www.tvpad.info/

This site is from the same vendor that sells the Chinese TVpad.

For more information, go here: http://goo.gl/EyM4X

I believe you can still watch Korean live TV using the Solive sofware on your PC, so you don't really need to buy the Korean TVpad. Or, are you going to buy it for your parents?

I was going to buy it for my parents, and then for myself. We usually watch dramas online, but was thinking having this tvpad would be easier.

I just spent the last hour checking out the Maige TV website, their forum, and the Youku video.

I have to say, this thing is awesome compared to the TVPad!! It has a lot more Hong Kong channels and a way better interface.
If you watch at the video, you can see that the menu has the name of each channel and the channel's logo. It also has a guide of what is showing at what time for each channel.
    Here is a sample video.

I think it might be worth the $78 a year for the subscription. That only comes out to about US$6 a month.
It has all the TVB channels (and I mean ALL), the ATV channels, and some of the Hong Kong Cable channels. You have to check out all the channels that they have from this LINK.

I was able to find some good info from their forum using Google Translate.
Here is the LINK in english for the Maige TV forum. The more popular TV network seems to be the Tracy TV network.
If you have the Maige TV device, you can watch it on your Computer and on your IPad if you prefer. Here is a LINK to watch on your PC. Here is the LINK to watch on your IPad. All you have to do is log in from your device.

One thing I notice reading the entire forum is that when the users ask for a certain channel, the developers actually listen to them and most of the time add the channels they requested. Channels are constantly being added. They just recently added to 2 more HK channels, the Hong Kong Cable News channel and the Hong Kong Cable Movie channel.

So who will be the first one to buy this??? -whistle

looks good! I only took a glance at the channel list, since I can't read Chinese, is there a VOD option like the one on TVpad (港粤快看 and movie valley)? Because if they don't we would be experiencing the same live streaming issue with the time difference. Then to me, it's not worth the $300 they are charging plus a annual fee of $78.

Does VMWare support the ARM architecture ? As far as I know they only support x86. I'm pretty sure that you would need some emulator or virtual server that supports the ARM architectures instead of x86 if you want any chance of succeeding. I'm looking into this, but I don't have much spare time to be honest. So hopefully some whiz kid will jump into this and give us a helping hand.

If you throw such a sales pitch who can disagree ? :) They indeed seem to have a lot of the HK channels, but not all the TVB channels if I look here: http://www.tvbpayvision.com/channel/ . So there is still some room for improvement. They do have a lot of the i-Cable channels as well: http://service.i-cable.com/cabletv/eng/basicservice.html .

Time to rename this thread to the Maige TV ? :) Well I'm definitely not going to be the first one to buy one. I do not see it as a necessity if you already own a TVPad. I do hope though that they come up with an English interface.

Skip to 29:45 of the Youku video to see their VoD (http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XMzQzMzc2OTY4.html). Not sure if that's all they have (I see 5 pages for the VoD) and also not sure if they have any Cantonese movies since I only recall hearing English or Mandarin during the movies.

the only buyer review for the maige tv on ali expres :

Excellent pre-sale and after-sale service, Answered all my pre-sale and after-sale questions with very polite manner. This seller shipped the box the same day after my fund is confirmed from AliExpress and received within a week from China to USA. Had problem with setup due to NTSC/PAL but the seller worked me thru the setup on "Chat now" area and even Activate my account same time. Now about the quality of the Maige Box, The HD picture quality is very good but can't compare to Real 720p or 1080P broadcast from Local channels but it is pretty much the best compare with other IPTV such as TVpad, hd8000-I used both. I just had it now..so it is early to say the stability but so far so good. To conclude this, This seller is excellent in terms of customer service and response rate. the Maige Picture quality is very good compare to other IPTV. The only negatives are Annual fees and the high cost of the box but I don't mind to pay high price if the product is stable and good.

Good review. So superhan, if my memory serves me right, you were a bit annoyed with the disappearance of the Lily TV app and wanted to throw your TVPad away (ok I made that last part up). Are you going to be the first one on this forum to buy a Maige TV ?

Hi, I recently installed the new TVB app for the TVPad but the icon is right at the bottom of the list of installed apps on the main screen. Is there any way I can rearrange the icons so that the new app is listed higher up? I notice that the latest TVPads being sold have it already installed and the new app is listed 2nd on the main page so it musy be doable.
