Popular TVB Indian actor, Gill Mohinderpaul Singh, better known as Q BoBo (喬寶寶), has recently hit the spotlight with his well-received performance in the TVB comedy, No Good Either Way <衝呀!瘦薪兵團>. Unfortunately, No Good Either Way may be BoBo’s last work with TVB as the 43-year-0ld moves to Scotland!

Born and raised in Hong Kong, BoBo married his wife Gurinder Kaur Gill when he was 19 years old. They had their first son when BoBo was 21 years old. Their second son was born in 2003 in Scotland. For 16 years, BoBo worked as an assistant officer for the Hong Kong Correctional Services Department. Believing that he would have no chances for a promotion, BoBo left his position and decided to join the entertainment industry.

BoBo entered the industry after appearing on an episode of the TVB game show, Minutes to Fame <殘酷一叮> in 2005, winning a management contract with the company. Besides erotic films, the flexible BoBo was willing to perform in anything, and by 2008, BoBo was already a quiet millionaire, becoming a major stockholder in two restaurants and a production company.

Bobo said, “I really want to thank Lee Lai Ha (李麗霞) for taking care of me. She included me in everything. When she wanted to open a new restaurant or production company, she always included me in the projects. She is the reason why I am able to have so many performance opportunities.”

Q BoBo Emigrates to Scotland for Son

BoBo’s eldest son, 21-year-old Inderpal, is currently a third-year college student living in Scotland, majoring in Economics. His second son, 9-year-old Arvin, was born with a weak spinal cord and diagnosed with ADHD. Hong Kong’s extremely compacted atmosphere is unsuitable for Arvin, who has to undergo long-term physical therapy. In order for Arvin to live under a better environment and have improved learning conditions, BoBo decided to let Arvin stay in Scotland permanently.

Having to consistently travel back and forth between Hong Kong and Scotland, BoBo’s wife decided to apply for an HKSAR passport to ease up traveling difficulties. However, the Hong Kong Immigration Department rejected her application. After much discussion with his family, BoBo and his wife decided to move to Scotland permanently.

BoBo said, “Once I received the notification letter, I called the office to ask about the situation. They told me it was confidential. I don’t even know what I did wrong! I have many fellow Indian friends who lived here for less than 10 years and could still apply for a passport, even though they did not know Cantonese and are living on welfare. I really don’t understand! My wife has to go to Scotland to take care of our son. Since she has no HKSAR passport, we have no choice but to apply for immigration. After my contract with TVB ends next April, I will move to Scotland in August. I have no choice but to give up the entertainment industry!”

Currently residing in a small 602-feet flat in Yau Ma Tei’s Liberty Mansion on Jordan Road, BoBo said he is reluctant to say goodbye to Hong Kong, his home for 42 years. He mused, “I’ve been living in Jordan my whole life. I like to walk around Temple Street and eat dim sum. It’s hard to let go!”

BoBo further expressed that he would miss working in TVB, and said that he made a lot of life-long friends after joining the company.” BoBo kept a lot of TV Buddy dolls and prizes that he won from TVB game shows, which he will also bring with him to Scotland.

However, BoBo did not completely rule out the possibility of returning to Hong Kong. He said, “Last year, my sister and I opened an Indian restaurant here. Business has been going well. Depending on the situation, I may return to Hong Kong!”

I like Q Bobo. Don't know why he got rejected but TVB lost another talent. He may not become a first line actor but I dont mind watching him if he was a secondary line actor.

Hopefully someday, he will be able to comeback to HK to film more series.

& i just noticed his name "Gill Mohinderpaul Signh". Inderpaul was his name in NGEW. :(

Haha, I only realised the bold bit. Didn't realise that was his [middle] name too. Inderpaul is probably a popular name in his country.

Well for me, it is one of the best characters. Hopefully he comes back after a few years.
