The New York Knicks have officially lost Jeremy Lin to the Houston Rockets, as a source reportedly tells ESPN's Stephen A. Smith that the Knicks do not plan to match Houston's offer sheet for the young star point guard. The Knicks are still deliberating about the decision, some team sources have said, but the high price of the third year of Lin's contract pretty much seals the deal, Smith's source said. The Knicks have two days to decide what to do about Lin. The news comes just four days after New York head coach Mike Woodson said Jeremy Lin would "absolutely" return to the Knicks as the team's starting point guard next season. It also comes just a few days after a Knicks source told ESPN that the team was willing to match Houston's offer sheet for up to "a billion dollars." The Rockets offered Lin a three-year deal broken down as follows: $5 million in the first year, $5.225 million in the second and $14.8 million in the third, according to ESPN. And now the Knicks are reportedly going back on what they've been repeatedly saying about Lin, and are instead letting him go to Houston. But it's not a total surprise, as the Knicks made some moves in the last couple of days that called into question their claim that they would be bringing Jeremy Lin back as starting floor general. First they picked up veteran point guard Jason Kidd, a 10-time All-Star who led the Dallas Mavericks to an NBA championship in 2011, but who at 39 years old is showing signs of his age. Then on Saturday, the Knicks signed point guard Raymond Felton and jettisoned Landry Fields in a major day of deals. The Knicks announced Saturday night that they had finalized and agreed to a sign-and-trade deal with the Portland Trail Blazers in which they give up forward Jared Jeffries and center Dan Gadzuric, while gaining point guard Raymond Felton and Kurt Thomas, NBA sources told ESPN. The trade for Raymond Felton raised questions about what the Knicks planned to do with Jeremy Lin, who shot to superstardom as the guy behind "Linsanity," the craze that swept through New York last spring as he scored 20 points or more in nine out of 10 games during a record-breaking stretch before sustaining a season-ending injury. Felton played 54 games for New York during the 2010-11 season before being traded to the Denver Nuggets under the deal that brought Carmelo Anthony to the Knicks. A source with ties to Jeremy Lin told ESPNNewYork.com that the acquisition of Felton by the Knicks surprised Lin. "He was very surprised," the source told the site. "He felt the whole time that the Knicks would just match the offer." So it is safe to assume that Jeremy Lin himself is surprised he'll be saying goodbye to Madison Square Garden. I dont know...I think a lot of people like Lin because he's asian and is something new for the NBA, but I've seen his games, Lin is an ok PG, but still has a lot to learn, when he start learning how to pass more, defend better and lose less balls he might become actually someone. He needs to show everyone that it wasnt just some random viagra that he took that made him play well for a few games. I wish him the best in the Rockets. Btw with Scola going to the Suns, what kind of team does the Rockets have now??
I think so as well. They are offering everything Orlando is looking for. Prospects, cap relief, and draft picks. They aren't getting all of that from the Lakers. @Lin criticism above. He is not a "crappy PG." He is at least above average. Whether he is worth 15 mill in the 3rd year remains to be seen. But passing pick and roll PGs are a dying breed. It's sort of like the center position right now. Also the Knicks are hilarious.They could possibly be the worst run sports franchise in all the major leagues. They've been the laughing stock of the NBA for the past decade and look like they plan to keep that streak going. It's a good core. Not good enough to make the playoffs, but not bad enough to finish last in the west. The defense looks like it will be a major concern as is always with the Suns. How good this team does will be very dependent on Beasley and whether he still has some potential to live up to. I highly doubt it will happen, but he has the talent to be a consistent performer.

So whos the knicks going to get if not Jeremy lin? Felton/Fatton? he sucks! the knicks Need Jeremy Lin but the GM is makin it personal because Lin Schooled him on contract negotiations and it came to bite him in the ass.. He basically thought no one would sign Jeremy Lin for what the rockets offered and let him "test" the market when he should of just offered him a 4 year contract of 20 mill on the spot. Is it Lin's fault he let him go? Bottom line is the Rockets know how valuable Lin is and im sure the Knicks do too. If Dolan would get off his high horse instead of crying about Jeremy Lin schooling him... the only smart move is to sign Lin who has potential and is young and they can trade him in 2 years if he sucks... The knicks aren't going anywhere in 2 years either, their players are on max salary cap regardless so why does it not make sense to sign Lin? What the GM did was figure he'd spend the same amount of money Lin is worth on shittier players to say FU to Lin.. We all know Dolan is an idiot GM and a billionare with no basketball sense and he's proven to make bad decisions and its no suprise he keeps bleeping up... Felton is way past his prime and only had 1 good season under Dantoni... Knicks are a mess right now and it's likely that Lin's leaving but i wouldn't be surprised that he'd come to his senses and sign Lin after he blows his load on the wall or something. If not he's a tool like all the other bad trades he did.

Thomas/Camby don't have anything to do with Lin because they have no Jefferies/Fields..

^ i saw that too; giving me a bad impression of knicks fans. i loved lin in NY and it's going to be weird seeing him in another jersey, but he had to make the best decision for him and his family. i respect that.
