Yea I watched the ceremony. It was so long but it was really spectacular I thought. They stayed true to the heritage and history of the UK which made it unique and special. Also, like how they linked the themes from films like James Bond which was very good and showed the UK's best bits like celebrating of the NHS. The olympians coming in, that got a little boring though as you expect as so much time is spent because there are so many athletes from different countries.

I went sleep at 12am (couldn't be bothered to stay up for the last 30 minutes).

Mr Bean (Rowan Akinson) and James Bond bit was funny. You know what's more funny? The Queens reaction. There's some pictures going around with subs saying "they told me that this would be fun".

I wasn't really impressed by the opening ceremony. There was a lot of symbolic things going on but overall it wasn't that exciting. I just enjoy certain parts of the opening. The Queen and Bond, the forging of the Olympic rings...

Yes, me too. It surely was nice, but nothing that overwhelms you, in my opinion.

So far after days of completion, I am surprised/proud to see some real good Chinese swimmers performance in record time, but what happen to the US swimming team? I guess luck has landed on them yet, at least for Michael Phelps...-rolleyes

Surprises and surprises. Phelps didnt even get a medal in his first contest, Spain eliminated in football by Honduras.

Im looking forward for the Dream team's games and Usain Bolt vs Blake race.

In the inevitable comparison to the Beijing Olympiad, London certainly seems rather blasé. Admittedly, 5000 years of 'exotic' cultural pageantry is a hard act to follow, especially when one is attempting it with early industrial Poppins chic. Also, the coverage too, as provided in the US by NBC, has been rather amateurish; their underhanded background dealings in an effort to silence critics (LINK) as well, had left me feeling that this Olympic series isn't as dramatic nor compelling. Of course, Phelps poor initial showing deflated the sails for most American viewers, and following that with the US Men's gymnastic comedy show; I bet a lot of the US audience turned off their sets at that point already and found something better to do.

IMHO, the 2012 US Olympians are not quite ready for prime time Link
