Enough to make a profit Yeah that's right, the "best phone" out in the market is the one that suits your needs/requirements and not necessarily the one that is the "most popular".
choosing a smartphone now has all come down to personal preference now rather than the 'apple dominance' that we saw when the iphone3gs first hit the market 2-3 years ago. android has definitely stepped up their game and is pretty much on par if not BETTER than apple. now we can pick and choose the phone that best suits our needs since all the flagships have about the similar specs in respect to processor, ram, camera, etc. only diff being the dimensions and slight differences in screens, features, etc. (HTC onex, s3, lumia 920, iphone5) that being said, apple is definitely gonna see a drop in their sales as consumers are becoming more knowledgeable and open to switches to android. though, there will still be a handful of idiots (>50% of consumers, namely apple fanboys) mindlessly buying new apple phones cause they dont know wtf the specs mean or they believe that apple only puts the best of the best and disregard everything. after checking out the iphone5 and reading up the keynotes, iphone5 looks pretty shit and underwhelming imo. it's a mere hardware upgrade from the 4s and it just PUZZLES me that they left out NFC. the stretch of the phone was no surprise as we saw leaks months ago. nothing has really improved and im pretty content that my s3 can match up to the iphone5. and WTF is the deal with the Lightning connector thing that is 'reversible' and costs like 30 bucks?
Sales won't drop. People who actually look up tech specs and features like NFC aren't Apples target market. Tbh, we never were. They have always been about making things simple and easy to use for the layman. Not catering to spec whores.
the way i look at the iphone or any apple product is accessorize i had one x and still using s3 these are fantastic handsets but the way i look at iphones that they spend alot of time on the materials such as the body like its liqid aluminium thats why you can not use NFC its not compatible if the body. and they spend alot of time on the camera lens to make that picture more real life like the camera cover is made out of saphire crystal all apple take and look at parts to make it more luxury. so i dont think apple is target to be better in specs or that i think its the fans says its better then other handsets the chip is from samsung. apple knows it. its all about luxury in apple iphone. i dont understand the hate whats all about....
Apple is probably putting that into design already lol, you know how it is, Apple likes to keep/get 'Apple fans' happy. Apple gets money and 'Apple Fans' get their product.
Market Shares might drop, but sales wont. As the market for smartphone is getting big, theres a large chunk for every player
i have a iphone as my personal phone and my work gave me a s3 for my work phone. i would still pick the iphone over the s3. i feel that the iphone is easier to use. i like a more heavier phone over a plastic light one. the s3 has a nice screen size but its not for me. makes it seem bulky for me and as i keep both my phones in my pocket, it feels a little weird. nfc doesn't matter to me cause i don't even use it on the s3. i will be getting the new iphone 5 if i have the chance to but won't pre order or wait in line for it on opening day. one thing that makes me want to get the iphone 5 is cause it has lte which means quicker internet speeds. i know that the s3 has lte tech also but as of now i don't have it cause its on sprint.
Should have put up a white iPhone and turn the screen on so we can see the apps at least to have a fair impression. We all know this ads is heavy weight to one side...
I feel that the iphone 5 looks exactly like the 4. I was hoping for a completely new and amazing design
iPhone 5 is more evolutionary than revolutionary. When purchasing an Apple product you are not just buying the device, you also buying into their well designed/carefully thought out closed system. Have the competitors caught up/surpass on the handset features? Yes. On the ecosystem (itunes, app store, retail locations, etc...)? No. No other company on this planet pays as much attention to details and build quality as Apple. No one else can offer what they are doing now except them.
honestly... i'm running my atrix still... I'll need an upgrade in the next month cuz it's actually gonna die... but I'll probably be running both an S3 and a 4S, iPhone 5 just doesn't scream update to me, still get ios6, and S3 will be plenty new tech enuff for me... if i had to choose one, I'd choose jelly bean over ios, ios needs an overhaul imo... u srs? google playstore? spotify? google music? u can get an android phone from any carrier... "pays as much attention to details and build quality"?! hello, u must be holding it wrong....
Prove it. You're going to tell me that this is evolutionary? I agree with you about carefully thought out closed system. But well designed? Please. The only reason why their system works well and makes money is due to itunes, and revolutionizing the way people acquire music, ever since the CD industry has dipped. But if you're going to start talking about ecosystem, please be accurate. The only components in Apple's ecosystem is itunes and app store. Retail location is NOT considered a component in software ecosystem. You're also going to ignore Google's ecosystem right? Gmail, Google search, Google Drive, Google Maps, Youtube, Google Calendar, Google Play, and a shit ton more. Now THAT, sir, is a proper ecosystem.
now now dan... Apple actually has quite a few widgets as well... they're both comparable, just locks you into apple haha
