I somehow know that they're gonna break up, Jason + Linda ends up together. Vinnci leaves the series due to breakup with 2-5 episodes left of series.

    Typical TVB?

What seems to be almost formulaic with TVB is that in any series, the chosen genre always seems to involve their participants. Invariably, the cast of this "find your long lost relative" organization will have lost relatives themselves. Further, the lawyers in Friendly Fire seem to have cases that will involve them, and just about every other profession that TVB comes up with will include affecting a member of their cast of characters. What next? A series revolving about the doings of maintenance men, and the actors will all have their own plumbing or electrical issues to deal with? LOL...

In the latest (ep 18) it is revealed that...

...mother who just passed away, had been romantically involved with a lawyer. Of course, it also turns out that Sze Hing (Jason) seems to be getting along very well with the judge (who by nature of his profession, is a lawyer). Coincidence? Heck no. I bet it turns out that the judge really is Sze Hing's dad, and his wife (another lawyer) is the one who "stole him away" from Sze Hing's mother (who according to her diary, cannot ever forget this). At least, that's what TVB seems to be dropping hints of in the ep. But in the coming attraction short after the end of the ep it suggests that Sze Hing's mother was actually the outsider or third party, who had an affair with another woman's man. Sze Hing is then seen telling his boss he no longer wanted to find out who his father was.

LOL... The women in this look so Sze Lai despite their supposedly (implied by the coming attractions short) being very young versions of the judge, his wife and Sze Hing's mom.

As for Vinci, who realizes belatedly that she's been royally played every which way (by a slick underling who fucked her both figuratively and literally); I really feel sorry for her. I think that despite the general TVB direction of having Yew Fung (Linda) and Sze Hing hint at possible romance, he nonetheless should take Vinci back (At least, I know I would as she's a hell of lot hotter than Linda, LOL...) Vinci is actually a much safer bet now as she's been knocked down a few emotional pegs and isn't as overly confident as she was before; she would be a lot more trusting of Sze Hing as she also sees that despite her having left and with nothing in their way, he and Yew Fung remained only close professional colleagues and nothing beyond that. Yeah, the Linda fans are going to scream bloody murder. But I think it would be a much more fitting end if they didn't wind up together romantically. On the other hand, IMHO, their co-stars, Cilla and Geeky what's his name, should wind up together.

Oh well, it was to be expected. The finale (ep 19 - 20) dotted the eye's and crossed the tee's...

...Yew Fung being matched with Sze Hing; damn, that Vinci is hot. And the parting shot by Cilla at geeky colleague was just ice cold. Too bad the boss didn't find his childhood crush, maybe more can be explored if there's ever a Missing You 2? As for the results of Sze Hing finally being recognized by the judge as his son, it didn't surprise me that the judge's wife was the underhanded manipulator behind the scenes to all the bitter outcomes. That woman always plays the heavy in these TVB dramas and true to form, there was evil in her.

But damn, Sze Hing didn't wind up with Vinci... now I'm pissed, LOL...

I wouldn't mind Missing You 2. I quite liked the stories and was more interested in those compared to the love lines. So i do hope for a sequel (Vincci must return! But however, don't want another love triangle).

Question is, what do you all think of lead actor, Jason Chan? Can he take on more future lead acting role?

  17. also don't mind if they made MY2 but Vicci would not be apart of it :( her last scene was cute she wanted to cry but she didn't her face was so red lol-blush liked her classy look in this <3

I don't like or hate Jason in this but i thought he didn't have enough emotion in the crying scenes...he sure did look good on screen with Linda though.

Jason Chan, IMHO, is a very limited two dimensional actor. He can stand there and look innocently calm, and thus be believable, fooling viewers into thinking that he has acting ability. But in that scene where he angrily "scolds" the Judge's wife is quite telling; he was horribly contrived and wouldn't have passed a simple screen test. He simply has zero range and I think this is in part because of his lack of real Cantonese training. He comes off as someone who can say things in Cantonese, but not as someone who really speaks it. The faster and more dynamic the dialog the more apparent this deficit then becomes. Another thing too, is the difference between HK'er English and North American English. Notice that Linda, when referring to the graduate degree, really enunciates the ending R's and doesn't sound at all like HK'ers who simply truncate into a short vowel sound; she says mass-tER when most HK learned English speakers would say moss-tAH. Jason Chan, being a Brit, naturally does the same thing. Both need to learn to turn off their American or European upbringing in terms of spoken language and to purposely make the same mistakes as the average HK'er on the street in order to be really believable as natives.

...it would be hard pressed to bring back Vinci in any sort of relationship with Sze Hing, as the show ended with him and Yew Fung together (the best part was that passerby girl in the crowd who gave her up as she was hiding behind the ad display, LOL...) But nonetheless, I would like to see her back, and also for their boss to finally find his first love (on the bus). Following the TVB formula of making all the cast somehow be involved in the plot, there's plenty of other's who haven't yet been 'serviced' by the show, so IMHO, there's plenty of script mileage left to this plot, LOL...
