Members are strictly prohibited from sharing their accounts and if caught will be banned from our servers and PA altogether. There are two reasons why: 1. Our servers are private. We don't want anyone who is not a member of PA or has not spoken with me to have access to our servers. Sharing your account with others compromises everything. 2. Our servers have limited resources (Bandwidth/Speed) and I've calculated exactly how many users we can handle to maintain top download speeds. If a number of members shared their accounts our servers would become very slow and it would hurt the download speeds for all members. To prevent members from abusing the server, we have many tools in place. For example, we can track the highest bandwidth usage per account/ip, the number of different ips each user logs in from, what files are downloaded per account/ip, etc. This is just the tip of the iceberg, we also have other ways to find out if we suspect a certain member is sharing, so please don't do it! Currently there are a few members who are suspected of sharing their accounts. If you login in from multiple locations AND download the same files multiple times and you are NOT sharing your account send me a PM now with your explanation. If you are indeed sharing your account, you must stop immediately. From today onwards I will begin banning members who continue to share their account. This is my last attempt at warning you, please don't think you can get away with it. If you continue sharing your account you will be banned from PA and Pserve. Note: Logging in from multiple locations is not a problem! It is a combination of both, logging in from different locations and downloading the same files more than once (from different locations/ip).
i knew this would happen...as if ppl sharing premium accounts all over the net... so mods should really get access to do some peace keeping @[N]: i doubt this will happen, if mods aren't getting it, you won't be :0
No matter how many computers/devices you connect to your home network.... to the outside world it only identify as 1 IP address. The the outside, it shows your home downloading multiple files simultaneously. B-Lee, do you have data on what time/day of the week that the server is taking the heaviest hit? Just like the way we use electricity, you may want to suggest to members when is usually Peak and when is sort of Slow. This methods may balance the server load. Combining the above methods with FileManager task scheduler may do the trick.
fongnd is correct, as long as your computers are in the same network (IP) you won't have any problems. We only had an issue with bandwidth so the bandwidth cap we have in place will help that. We closely monitor download speeds since we want the best download experience for everyone. Once we hit a certain cap, I either stop accepting new donations or get another server. Right now, all donors can download at full speed at the same time and there should be no slow-downs.
