The body of a missing Vancouver woman is believed to have been found in a water tank atop a Los Angeles hotel, media reports say. The Los Angeles Times reported LAPD sources believe the body of Elisa Lam, 21, was found in the Cecil Hotel's rooftop water tank around 10 a.m. local time. A hotel worker found the body while investigating complaints of low water pressure in the hotel, the Times reports. Footage from a KTLA news helicopter showed firefighters and police officials milling around four large rooftop water tanks, two of which had been opened. LAPD has confirmed a body was found, but would not say if it is male or female, nor did they release the manner of death. The police are treating the roof as a crime scene. Police previously said Lam's disappearance was being considered suspicious, and may involve foul play. Vancouver resident Elisa Lam was last seen by Cecil Hotel staff Jan. 31. The body will have to be removed from the tank in good enough condition that it can be analyzed. Moore said the body posed "no biohazard concerns," though one hotel guest told reporters gathered outside they were disgusted by the idea they were possibly drinking water from that tank. The LAPD told CBC News that the rooftop had previously been searched, though it's unclear if the water tanks had been checked. There is no security camera on the roof. LAPD Sgt. Rudy Lopez said anyone could have opened the tanks, but access to the rooftop should have been restricted. Lam was seen acting strangely in the Cecil Hotel elevator. "That [has] worried us, and worried the family," said Lopez. She was last seen by hotel staff on Jan. 31. It's not clear why she was staying at the Cecil Hotel. (Google) The Cecil Hotel is a two-star, 600-room highrise on South Main and 7th streets, a rough area of L.A. It also houses the Stay On Main hotel, which caters to young travellers. The LAPD told CBC News that its investigation revealed Lam had struggled with depression. Lam's friends said they were shocked by the disappearance of University of British Columbia student who was hoping to graduate in 2016, and that it was out of character for the young woman not to contact friends or family. Lam travelled to southern California alone on Jan. 27 for a sightseeing trip, and was said to be on her way to Santa Cruz. Police said they are keeping in contact with Lam's family. My understanding that the Cecil Hotel's rating of "two stars" is optimistic at best; it reportedly is a well known dive frequently used by only the marginal elements of society and or unsuspecting, badly ill informed tourists who had failed to do proper homework or due diligence before selecting travel accommodations. How this girl then wound up in the water tank is the vexing question. From the multitude of pictures, with many aerial views, appearing on the net since the gruesome discovery of the unfortunate girl's body, one is immediately struck by how difficult it would be even for someone to willingly go up into that location, much less be dragged or carried up there. It's going to take some serious investigation for them to get to the bottom of this mystery. She reportedly is remembered by people that knew her as someone who was an achiever. Her end in this manner is as much a shock to them as it is to everyone else. Sympathies to her family and friends.
Freaky psychic reading posted by a psychic median on her blog two weeks ago: http://chelseadamali.wordpress.com/...d-encounters-face-to-face-on-the-bio-channel/ I don't know about you guys, but I certainly would believe she got possessed if this reading is accurate! Freaky.. Also, did anyone notice that the elevator door didn't close at all while she was around? then shortly after it closed and opened by itself
thanks for the link she just updated with what she thinks happened to Elisa http://chelseadamali.wordpress.com/...-of-elisa-lam-the-unexpected-psychic-reading/ I'm afraid of hotels and elevators now:(
I read about this a few days ago. Apparently the Cecil Hotel has an infamous reputation. They housed two murderers in the past, Richard Ramirez and Jack Unterweger, as well as other people who have commited suicide. http://www.hlntv.com/article/2013/02/21/cecil-hotel-california-elisa-lam-past Another helpful link here: http://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/l...Where-Missing-Woman-Elisa-Lame-191886411.html Article states that there is a security system to access the hotel's roof, so it could be possible that the alarm was deactivated in some way.
definitely weird that the elevator doors didn't close until she left. or at least try to close. i think that the doors opening and closing is because it look like she was pushing all the floor buttons.
