Ip Man: The Final Fight <葉問:終極一戰> will premiere at the Hong Kong International Film Festival on March 17, 2013.

The film, produced by Checkley Sin (冼國林) and directed by Herman Yau (邱禮濤), is a direct sequel to the 2010 prequel film, The Legend is Born – Ip Man <葉問前傳>. Starring Anthony Wong (黃秋生) as the aging Wing Chun hero, The Final Fight will focus on Ip’s final years in 1950s Hong Kong, where he attempts to establish his own martial arts academy against an economically-challenged environment as Hong Kong attempts to recover from World War II.

Checkley Sin, a disciple of Ip Man’s son Ip Chun (葉準), expressed that The Final Fight will be his last Ip Man film investment. “This film is different from other kung fu and action films. There are some aspects of Ip Man that others still don’t know about, and I want to present them in this film. The Final Fight is a film that is able to tell the complete life of Ip Man. As a loyal Wing Chun practitioner and successor of Ip Man, I believe that The Final Fight will be able to provide a complete and perfect ending to his legendary story.”

Ip Man: The Final Fight was filmed in Xiqiao Dreamworks Studios, a 1.4 billion RMB project built by Hong Kong’s National Arts Holdings in Xiqiao, Guangdong. The themed studio – similar to America’s Universal Studios – is dedicated to building studio reenactments of Hong Kong, Guangzhou, and Shanghai during the Republican Era of China. The studio’s “Hong Kong Streets” also consist of buildings that resemble 1950s British Hong Kong, which was where a majority of Ip Man: The Final Fight was filmed.
Anthony Wong praised the film set’s realistic resemblance of old Hong Kong, gushing, “It is a huge studio. From the architecture to the props, everything looked real. The sets are designed articulately – besides the surface, the inside of a store or a building is also carefully built. You can literally live in the studio’s bedrooms as well. The beds, the bathrooms, the chairs, etc… everything is there! When, I’m on set, I felt like I literally went back in time to 1950s Hong Kong. It was somewhat of a culture shock.”

The Final Fight, costarring Eric Tsang (曾志偉), Anita Yuen (袁詠儀), Gillian Chung (鍾欣桐), Jordan Chan (陳小春), and Wong Cho Lam (王祖藍), will open in Hong Kong cinemas on March 28.

Interesting casts, wasn't expecting Eric to be one of the masters of a school. The accent which, Anthony made in that trailer sounds like the one from McDull (yes, I know he voiced in McDull too but I am talking about the accent that he is making).

    Looking forward to this

cool cast... really want to see the eric vs anthony fight scene... looks good. not something you would expect out of eric, based on the trailer, I don't see a body double and lots of motion seems to be in one shot (one take). So its not a lot of editing involve. eric's breakthrough regardless if the motion was actually slower in real when shooting.
