Gloria Wong (黄榕) recently released her 5th photobook at the Hong Kong Book Fair. In her interview with reporters she revealed her unhealthy relationship with Edison Chen (陳冠希). Midnight "Emergency" Calls According to Gloria, Edison would make midnight calls for her and she would take the taxi in the middle of the night just to be with him. Happening often, Gloria Wong felt like she was more like a call-girl than a girlfriend. Gloria: "I wasn't that happy when I was with Edison. It wasn't normal dating. He only used me like a plaything. If I didn't go to his house when he called, he would get angry and yell at me. At the time, I didn't have a lot of work and going from my home in Kwun Tong to his place in Central cost about $200 HKD. That may be a small number for him but it was a burden to me. " Gloria continued: "In the years that I was with him, Edison would ask me to wear sexy lingerie for him. I felt it was normal in relationships so I did. He also asked me to travel with him but I didn't agree to go because I didn't have money. He would sit in first class, while I would fly in economy. (Did he ever ask you to shoot videos with you?) I am not talking about that." During the time when Gloria and Edison were dating, Edison was seen together with 2R's Rosanne Wong (黃婉君). He would explain to Gloria that Rosanne was only using him to promote herself. Until in 2006, when Edison admitted to dating Vincy Yeung (楊永晴), during this time he still continued to “call” Gloria occasionally. In the end, she couldn't handle the stress of the relationship and ended things with Edison: "I suffered from depression after we broke up. I had to see a psychologist and needed the support of my family. I also joined a band during that time but I decided to quit since I wasn't making enough money." Toning Down Photobooks Although Gloria releases a photobook every year, the level of revealing clothing in the photos have gone down. She reportedly took out a lace lingerie photo from this year’s photobook fearing public complaints. "I have to keep releasing photobooks to maintain my popularity in China. I do about one or two shows every month [in China]. I receive about 30,000 for one show and the show's sponsors would also purchase my photobooks too. With this, I am able to live comfortably through my photobooks." After debuting in the entertainment industry for more than 13 years, Gloria only appeared in handful of movies. Ironically, the reason for her popularity in China is because of her connection with Edison Chen. With the end of her underground relationship with Edison Chen, Gloria attempted to date TVB actor Nathan Ngai (魏焌皓) but the end result was the same: "We did everything we would do in a relationship but he also treated me like a plaything. All my friends warned me to be careful because he's a player." Gloria also dated Steven Cheung (張致恒) but that only lasted for 6 months. When he debuted, he suddenly stopped all contact with her.
