The original Come Home Love <愛．回家> premiered in 2012 to tremendous praise, and its success continued on for the next three years. Lau Dan (劉丹), Florence Kwok (郭少芸), Tsui Wing (徐榮), Lai Lok Yi (黎諾懿), Yvonne Lam (林漪娸), Joey Law (羅天宇), and Angel Chiang (蔣家旻) won the hearts of millions as the heartwarming Ma family, but their story came to a bittersweet end last month when TVB decided to debut its spin-off series, Come Home Love 2, on July 6. The spin-off, which consists of occasional cameo appearances by the Ma family, centers on the relationships of the employees working in a fitness facility and a dried seafood store. The series, though debuted to satisfying ratings, received mixed reviews. Netizens, in particular, felt that the characters in the sitcom were too detached and the story lacked that feeling of “home”, a concept successfully executed in its predecessor. So far, Come Home Love 2 focuses on the stories of two families—one led by Louis Cheung (張繼聰) and Priscilla Wong (黃翠如), and another led by Evergreen Mak (麥長青) and Owen Cheung (張振朗). Unlike the original Come Home Love, in which all the characters had some relation with each other, the netizens feel that the characters in the new sitcom do not seem to be related in any way. Netizens also expressed their disappointment at Come Home Love 2 for putting more emphasis on romance than familial love, which was the main theme of the original series. I'm 2 weeks behind (sorry, it's not very interesting..), but how true is this? LMAO. Perfect name actually. And I agree. The reason why CHL-1 was so successful because it had a family feel to it. It only had 1 family to focus on, which was the Ma Family. The new one? You have two families that don't really relate that much with Priscilla-Louis and the Owen-Evergreen family. #BRINGBACKMAFAMILY
They shouldn't had try to make it a spin off, just have it as a new sitcom.. But they used the same name and try to somehow connected to the OG just confuses people and pisses everyone off. We Want The Ma Family Back!!!
Yep, hopefully it goes off air soon. Just long enough so John Ma is done with the series he's filming now, then back to being John Ma!!!
It's not gonna go off air... they will just prolong its death through more poorly written scripts... dull character relations... and cameos from the original crew #BRINGBACKMAFAMILY
LOL, they should have call it Come Yoga Love <愛瑜伽>... I think they kept the original name trying to monopolize on the old series, needless to say it totally backfired!
