Just a general FYI, there's a Torrent site that specializes in European content which was previously restricted (and very hard to get into), that is now open and accepting new memberships again. This is a heads up notice for those who already know of this site and had been trying unsuccessfully to join, to do so soon as it will likely close just as quickly. In accordance with the old PA rules, I will not post the link here nor reveal the name of any outside media download sites.

Oh, and BTW, even though the site is specifically for European movies, one has to be aware that with the internationalization of marketing, some of the films on that site are also cross released in the United States, and hence are subject to US copyright protections. So just a word of caution; while torrenting Eu movies is generally not a big legal concern for US residents, trading Eu movies with US rights can be legally problematic if they want to chase after IP addresses of downloaders.

    Good luck ;)

ATTN ADMIN: If non specific notice message like this violates DA rules, please remove and accept my apologies.

It shouldn't be a problem if it's solely European content (not a rival Asian-download or news site), but b-lee will have the final say :)

My original post was referring whether or not this post should be allowed, and I'm ok with it since we don't do European/Hollywood stuff here.

As for torrenting, whenever you're torrenting illegal stuff you always have to be careful. You could always use a trustable VPN. Even with VPNs that say they don't log, you will 100% never know.

Most of the time if you torrent Asian stuff, you will be safe. But if you're torrenting like Game of Thrones or whatever, I know people have received warning for those.

  5. Whenever torrents are involved, I always use vpn now. I have received notice before for a US show (many years ago from media sentry ) before i started to use vpn... notice back then didnt' really mean much cos laws here prevent the isp from divulging client data to media sentry .... however, there have been recent case where the Movie company? or the company that owned the distibution rights won a court case to forward letters to the isp and for the ISP to forward to their clients to claim for infringement damages.. it's still ongoing at the moment so it'll be interesting

Back when the PS2 games could be pirated (PS3 and PS4 cannot anymore..), I used to pirate all my PS2 games. I did receive a notice from my ISP saying I should stop torrenting games for PS2 . But I have never received a warning for torrenting any asian dramas.

H! What VPN do you use? According to my research, PIA is popular, cheap, and on paper doesn't record logs. However it's based in US I believe, and that's the only downfall. I was going to get it but I questioned myself do I really need it especially with the CAD so low..

  7. Jeff, I'm was using PIA for a long time... recently switched to vpn.sh to try it out... on paper was no logs, price was cheap, no noticeable speed deterioration (Y).. but only used it for the last month, so far so good. I think if i had issues, i'd probably go back to PIA.

IF you have no need for a vpn, i guess you have no need then  i'll always find a need, so having it there is just useful, especially when it's not much $$

With vpn.sh, there is a bandwidth limit though. So wouldn't PIA be the better choice? PIA is only 0.20USD more per month. But I guess since vpn.sh has their price in pounds, it's a British based VPN, so there's that. £2 for 20GB or £5 for 100GB per month.

I guess you could always switch it off when you don't need it.

  9. I signed up to VPN.sh special when they had it on... £1/year unlimited bandwidth (Y) . was sceptical about speeds etc but like i said so far no probs 1 month in :D

    £1/year or £1/month? :moses:

As long as you retain 90%+ of your regular speed, it will be fine. Updated torrents with seeds usually go into the mb/s so downloads go by very quick as opposed to browser downloading. Will likely be safer behind a VPN when torrenting too.

  11. intro special was £1/year :chowthumb:

That's why i signed up (Y) not sure if its still going on at the moment... can dig into my emails to see if i still have the link for you if you're interested

    H!

If it's £1/year, then it's a deal I'll hop on since it's nothing significant! It's like coffee money!

Damn, seems like they won't be back in stock since it's a pre-launch offer.

Guess I will have to check /r/vpncoupons on reddit. PIA had $60USD for 2 years, which is a pretty good offer. I didn't bite though when the offer was still live..

Your link was also posted in that subreddit, oh well.

  15. share via this thread if anyone comes across soem good vpn deals (Y)
