Facing a high-risk pregnancy and cervical incompetence, 40-year-old Taiwanese artiste Vivian Hsu’s (徐若瑄) journey to parenthood was unimaginably tough. Bedridden for nearly 150 days, Vivian had to use a urinary catheter and could not take showers to wash herself. Nonetheless, with the support of family, friends, and fans, the actress and singer stayed strong and often shared her feelings and daily thoughts with her fans. Vivian was in tears when her son, Dalton, was born on August 13. Now, nearly a month after Dalton’s birth, Vivian announced that she is finally allowed to soak herself in a well-deserved hot bath. She shared pictures of what she was using in her bath, and wrote, “From pregnancy to the first month of postpartum, I can finally do it on day 162. I am taking a bath! Lao Chiang and Angel Sharon gave me a bag of herbs and I cooked it for about 1.5 hours. My heart is sparkling with tears. I am so touched!” Fans expressed their happiness for Vivian, and joked, “Don’t worry! Even if you don’t wash, you’ll still smell great!” Vivian replied, “Really! It’s sour!” Creds: Oncc

Her pregnancy journey was indeed not easy....thumbs up to all mums out there, i believe they each have different struggles...
Which part of bedridden because of her pregnancy do you need explanation? Or, are you looking for medical answer? I don't think Vivian Hsu's physician(s) is(are) DA members. But who knows ... maybe her physicians are here and if it doesn't violate HIPAA, they can comment more.
there are plenty of people who are not (nearly as) restricted in their daily lives during their pregnancy, so i was wondering why she was bedridden. is it really that strange to ask such a question? all i see is the fact that she's bedridden, but not a reason (and no, pregnancy is not a good reason). the news post was a bit incomplete to me, hence the question. i'm extremely sorry if i offended you xD
Not at all offended. Just don't really understand your question. Pregnancy complications requiring bedridden is a good reason and pretty common! I have had that happened to a few of my friends (and friends' wives).
well, i think the original post has been edited. did not read anything about pregnancy complications, hence the question.
