usign the one with 49 as start... i'm using the VOD schedule to watch tvb shows.. the one that only has a few days recorded. that one seems to be working fine for me. use it to watch J2 live and recorded programs
I'm also using the DNS that starts with 49. I'm not able to stream anything TVB related using the VOD app that has replays, live, etc. Without using the DNS, everything in that app shows blank/empty. When using the DNS, it will show everything fine, just unable to stream since the connection speed is 0-2KB/s... From what I read online so far, it seems like it's an IP ban that is in US. Only way around it is by using a VPN and connecting to servers outside the US.
That lawsuit happened in California, guessed that's the reason. This might effect other similar products. I have the himedia, not sure if it had any issues yet, buty parents mainly watches stuff from China.
I just installed these apps on my tvpad4. Changed the DNS back to auto. Almost all of these apps works. Many China live stream and VOD. The only thing missing now is TVB shows.
Since I already updated mine to 5.060, The files will not work for me. I went with the VPN route. Since I already have a paid vpn service i use for other purposes, I got it all setup and can watch all tvb. I connected the vpn to canada. It is running smooth. If anyone is following TVPadTalk website, XChemical have mentioned about using VPN with a router. He uses PureVPN and confirm that it works and its good. I can confirm that privateinternetaccess.com is good too. PureVPN is $45/yr PIA is on sale $60/2 yrs - http://www.techbargains.com/private-internet-access-vpn-deals If that is a route you want to take. I installed OpenVPN onto the TVPad4 and ran the VPN from there. If you need assistance with that I can help but other different ways I might not be able to. Found this on the other site, I think this one is free - How good it is, you would have to test - http://www.vpngate.net/en/
I just got a message from my friend in UK asking me not to trade-in or buy TVPAD4. He told me the company had a major problem in America, what he did not specified. He also told me his TVPAD4 no longer working. I can only assume he can't connect to the TVPAD site. The website MTVPAD.com is down. This is the site I bought my TVPAD2. I am in Hong Kong now so I don't know if my TVPAD2 still works in UK.
This is their new site: http://www.mtvpad.cn/index.html Move to a china server it seems... Here is a post for some useful links... http://tvpadtalk.com/3/14/tvpad_useful_links
The above is for version 5.054, but if you previously upgraded fw to 5.060, just use VPN without 49.213.10.163 others you'll get the user restricted message. I am on VPN connected to canada and my TVPad4 is working great! No more nagging parents for SOME people, just changing the DNS 49.213.10.163 works without VPN and some claims it doesn't work.
i am confused. well, it seems like nothing is working. do we wait till the TV pad changes owners or whatever? what do we do? i am confused. =(
You pretty much just have to wait until the servers slowly come back up if you do not understand how to change DNS, run VPN, etc. The only option that works currently is by changing DNS + possibly using a VPN on your router or installing (sideloading) to the TVPad.
UPDATE Using the 49.213.10.163 DNS in US will work now for TVB VOD and live streaming app. At least for the TVpad 4.
Settings -> Network -> Ethernet or WiFi -> Change from auto to manual -> go to DNS section -> enter in 49.213.10.163 in the DNS -> Confirm/save changes
