Fala Chen (陳法拉) flew back to New York this week to continue her studies at Juilliard. The former TVB actress is currently pursuing a Master of Fine Arts in Drama degree at the prestigious conservatory, and was accepted into the four-year program in September 2014. The 33-year-old returned to Hong Kong over the winter holidays so she could catch up with some work. Although she has to be on hiatus due to school, she wants to continue her career in Hong Kong; she plans to make a full comeback in the industry once she graduates. Fala did several magazine photoshoots before returning to New York. One of them was for a Lunar New Year shoot; Fala made her own Lunar New Year scroll, which wished everyone a happy year of the monkey. “I have school on Lunar New Year,” said Fala. “Since I’m going to be spending the New Year with my foreigner classmates, I plan to bring in some Lunar New Year food for them to try. And also disrupt the classroom’s strict atmosphere,” she added with a laugh. “I want to hand out New Year candy to my classmates and introduce them to Chinese culture. Yes it's neither sexy or elegant. The shape is very strange. She seems happy too. Maybe her experience at the Juilliard School will help her to get a role in a western movie.
