    Hi folks,

what do you think - why until nowadays people of the south and the north
don't like each other? - yes, I know the history of VN but why especially
in north america the (south) vietnamese don't like the Vietnam of today?
In my opinion in US these viets are too patriotic and they live in the past.
Because they don't want to accept that the conditions have changed.

In Europe the vietnamese live more liberal together even there are north and south
vietnamese. Why in US is still this super patriotism of former south vietnam?
    You can't change history!

    What do you think?

This is a first. No Vietnamese I talk to ever tried to seperate themselves with North or South. Then again they're second generation.

You mean that the South Vietnamese don't like Vietnam nowadays? I don't know about that. But I like South people than the North, cos' they always say what they think, but the North somtimes say many good things but they really don't think so. I'm sorry for the North People, who's not like that.

Im south viet, and i gotta some i dont like some north viets, its nothing about the past its just how they act.

Most of the north viets like a&d said say that your really nice and stuff, but then behind ur back they say shit about u. Thats being sterotypical of course, theres people like that all over the world.

North viets also have a different accent and some slang thats different to south viet people, which makes it hard to understand at times =p

I'm south Viet, and to be honest... I don't care if someone's from the North or South lol. I live in such a small community that Asians are a very visible minority (there might be like... *35* other Asian people in my school of 1000?). So... if I see an Asian, I'm always like: "Hey! You're Asian too! You rock!" XD

The Northern accent is sometimes hard to understand, but I must say... some of their sayings sound down-right cool (ie. da van a) :p

I don't like how the country is separated into north and south. One is poor while the other is rich. Sooner or later, something bad is bound to happen.

    North South, East West

The North and South (or East and West, or land and sea people) divide is a common thing across all cultures. It is a simple "them" and "us" attitude problem! Don't read too much into it. Certainly the younger generations are not too bothered.
