laptop crashed once, and i just bought new ram, so i wanted to test it as a precaution--before it crashes again.
You can download a memory test program from here. http://www.m2ktech.com/MemScope_Memory_Tester.htm This program will test all the memory in your laptop. Run the program with the new ram, if there is error, remove the new ram and run the program again. This will confirm if the error was caused by the new ram. Good kuck.
http://www.memtest86.com/ The most used and trusted memory testing program. Easy to use, just follow the instructions.
I believe I ran Memtest86 once overnight, and when I woke up, my laptop was off. Any idea what that means?
memtest shouldn't take that long maybe a few hours, and by then you should see some errors if there are any
so you add new ram or you change .. if you add new ram then remove the old one and try it .. if still got problem or getting blue screen then it is ram problem .. then use back the old ram only .. if still crash then system got problem .. use some software like tuneup xp to check for error and to fix it .. defrag your hard drive once in a while to avoid pc running slow or corrupted ..
Maybe he forgot to plug it into the wall and left it on battery. That being said, yes yes, use memtest86 and you will have your answer.
you need to be a bit more specific on what system you are testing on. memory leak ususlaly generate a failure log, you need to obtain all those logs and find out what's wrong. what's the point of running those software if you system is not stable. Geeks!
