Before anyone starts going, "You have no right to diss the untouchable beauty of actresses, etc." or along the lines of "look in the mirror yourself" , I just wanted to see if anyone agrees with me. Sometimes, I find that if the media hypes up the beauty of an actress enough, or fans start spreading around their raves, then a very so-so/average looking person will start to suddenly appear "beautiful". Personally, I don't get the hype about Liu Yi Fei, Vicki Zhao, Michelle Ye, Tavia Yeung, Nancy Wu, or Kenix Kwok. Also, certain Hollywood actresses such as Kirsten Dunst, Hilary Duff, Sandra Bullock, Lucy Liu, and Nicole Kidman. I'm sure there's more of them, but can't think of any now. I can certainly find prettier girls just walking on the streets, so I don't really get why the rave about their beauty. Btw, this isn't a discussion about their acting skills---though some of the people in the above list aren't the greatest actresses either, but that's a different discussion.
What about the overated beauty of actors???? That one guy Orlando Bloom or whatever his name is, I don't understand what the whole craze is about him. When it comes to acting, he's not that great, and when it comes to looks, he's just another one of those pretty boys with a baby face and a mustache. Don't know why so many girls are crazy about him -noclue Also Raymond Lam, Ron Ng and Sammuel Chan from TVB. For actresses, I don't see what's so appleaing about those 2 Twins girls. I could probably grab a random girl in my neighborhood and she would look better than them. For hollywood, Paris Hilton is butt ugly, no offence.
That one korean girl from My Sassy Girl. Her face is sooooooo plain! I don't know why so many guys and girls alike find her attractive. She has a nice body but that's hardly enough to be considered hot.
i sort of agree with u for some of them... like Nancy Woo, Vicki Zhao and Liu Yi Fei... i mean Liu Yi Fei is pretty but ppl make her sound like a godess n i think she far from that... n personally i really don't think Myolei Woo and Yo Yo Mung all that pretty either... but i guess "beauty" is defferent in everyone's eyes... the media hypes up "beauty" coz that's what they r suppose to do in the entertainment industry... i find Anne Hueng butt ugly but she won Miss HK n i doubt the media will call her our butt ugly Miss HK winner... i'm sure there're ppl out there would think she's hot... "beauty" in the entertainment industry is just a title... to qualify the titile u need to b skinny n one of the following: a) entered a beauty contest (doesn't matter even if u don't win) b) did modeling / releas a music album c) never played a role of an ugly person EDIT: oh right... i forgot to put up my list... Shu Qi would b the number one... Fiona Sit, Anne Heung, Yo Yo Mung, Charlene Choi, Kate Tsui, Nicola Cheung, 2R n so on...
i agree with you for the most part. i dont think anyone would actually call Sandra Bullock "beautiful", hahaha.. something about her screams UNATTRACTIVE to me. i also dont think Vicki Zhao is very pretty.. she just looks old to me now. and as for Nicole Kidman, she USED to be beautiful, until she went crazy with the botox that now her face cant move. i will have to disagree with you about Liu Yi Fei though. she's not an absolute beauty, but she is certainly above average in my opinion. for the ppl on my list of overrated (both male and female) celebrities...: Charlene Choi, Hyesung (i really just don't see whats so hot about his feminine features), Taebin, Raymond Lam, Edison Chen (though i admit he's decent looking), Orlando Bloom, Gisele Bundchen (again, she's pretty, but not breathtakingly beautiful), Adriana Lima, Lisa S, BoA... the list goes on. now if anyone says Johnny Depp is overrated, it will get ugly in this thread.
I don't think Nancy Wu or Myolie Wu are really that well known for their beauty... but if they are known for being beautiful, I'd say they're overrated. Tavia... although I don't find her striking, I think she looks a lot prettier than most other actresses on screen. I also find Liu Yi Fei pretty but overrated, just like: Michelle Yip DEFINITELY Charmaine Sheh (can't think of why anyone would like her ) Christy Chung (she's okay at most to me... not as beautiful as most people make her out to be) Ariel Lin (she's cute, but in no way beautiful) Charlene Choi (tries too hard to look cute, but it usually backfires) Jolin Tsai Shu Qi Ron Ng Raymond Lam Joe Ma Edison Chen (he's good looking, but not THAT good looking) Ekin Cheng Most of the male korean singers (Minwoo, Se7en, Bi)

i so have to agree with dawn and ei0loan on the so call "beauty" of Shu Qi. I wish she would just stay in acting in chinkie shows instead of acting in English flims like i forgot wat that one movie was called the transporter or watever god there is just something wrong wrong with her lips or just her face in total sorryyy don't mean to offend anyone who lykes her just giving my opinion

i think vicki zhao is pretty, she doesnt even wear a lot of make up...unless a lot of actresses i know. and as for orlando bloom, he is definitely hot so i donno what u guys r talking about.
I don't see what's so great about tom cruise and brad pitt for sure, and of course orlando bloom. Most of the people listed above are also on my list, but I want to add: 飛輪海, S.H.E except for hebe, KAT-TUN and Bosco. ron ng is ok though. even if he can't act or sing very well XD
Shu Qi(ugly lip, she had a flat face), Michelle Yip(the way she talks is annoying), Kenix Kwok(too skinny, look at her in the movie "Ten Brothers"), Jessica Hsuan(not attractive at all), Tavia Yeung(I dislike her in the movie "Diceys Business"), Fiona Sit(she has a baby face, don't look like a grown up lady), Ada Choi(after filming "Justice Pao", she became ugly...losing too much weight....too skinny) are overrated
@ intraland. no one thinks ella (from S.H.E) is hot. or at least next to no one. people just like her because she's a total riot on variety shows, concerts and other random occasions.
Certain actresses aren't pretty, in fact they are UGLY. It's just the media (& their fans) make it seem that they are the world. Or such as Anne Heung or Sonija Kwok, just cuz they won the beauty pageants it doesn't mean they are pretty but just pplz make it seems that they are. Ron Ng is hot though, in my opinion. -innocent2
