I have added Utorrent port to my Windows FireWall..But do i also need to add it to the net work connection settings? ( It doesn't seem to speed up my download even though i have 1GB Broadband line)..
My download is extremly slow it goes from 0.5-1 kb/s and sometimes slows down..

What number should i foward my port? for UtorrenT?

I'm having trouble with port fowarding with Utorrent. and i have a firewall.

I have a problem with configuring my router for µTorrent.. I read all the Faqs and how to configure my router but when i test if the port is fowarding correctly it says "ERROR port not open". BUT when i click on the logger tab on my µTorrent client is says :
[12:15:39] UPnP: Discoverd new device: http://192.16.../upnp/control/WANIPCon"
    [12:15:39] UPnP: mapped port 50056 -> 192.168..:50056

I don't know what that all meant and not sure if i done the router configuration right..

if anyone could help me out that will be great :[

Why am i getting speeds from 0.2-0.5? Is it my router because i tried to configure it but when i test if the ports are configured properly it says "ERROR Port NOT OPEN". i use port 50056.. and i put them both iin the µTorrent Cilent and on my router web page..

Also i have 1GB Broadband line..

Merged posts/threads, all on the same topic

once you added utorrent to your windows firewall as an exception, that is done and you dont have to worry about it again

your getting slow speeds because its EITHER no seeds/peers (dead torrent) or your behind a router (reduces seeds/peers), its one of these two that is your main problem

And are you sure you got a 1GB line, the biggest i heard is 16MB, i dont think there is such a thing as 1GB line

Have you read my faq here http://www.dramasian.com/showthread.php?t=7226

i included links that directs you to a guide that helps you config your ports

because there are different routers, I cant give you a step by step how to configure port forwarding in your exact model

if that guide doesnt help i suggest you sign up on that link in my faq on p2p forum as some of the members there have more exp in all aspects of p2p than any of us here

port forward.com is not always updated for your exact router.
I used dlink xy then found that it changed for my current
    software update.
the pictures also were not clear.
are you using any other torrent pgms?
I also u uT and ABC sometimes at same time.
I set up 2 or 3 extra ports that 'opened' only for those pgms.

Might be a faulty firewall or you did it wrong. Why don;t you try dmz on the computer you are using for utorrent and see if it works.
