I watch alot of those old chinese movies, to me there great. I mean those movies gave me the urge to learn martial arts. me and my wife love watching them together after we have a hard day at work. Though she usally comes home with the videos. So yeah those movies rock ^^. But I strongly encourage everyone to learn a martial art style. And I suggest style not many people have heard of. Like Ba Gua Zhang from China, Kbach Kun Khmer, or Sovanna Phum from cambodia, etc.
Yea, its funny when other people come up to automatically think you know martial arts as an asian. But whats wierder is there are so many chinese people that think Wong Fei Hung is a made up character. As for martial arts most of my background is in hung gar, pak ga and yang tai chi.
Jet-Li has pretty good ones, and since he's better at martial art than Jackie Chan (he havent master martial art while Jet-Li has). But I heard Jet-Li aint making anymore action movie (fighting etc). -_-2
Yeee. Bruce Lee is awesome. Yeah... fearless was his last one playing like... that character...the wong fei hung or something...
Kung Fu... I have learned kung fu for over 11 years now, I learning Northern Shaolin Style... But with this knowledge that I have, I never had to use it on anyone yet.... Never got in a fight yet... but I am a guy that is 250 + lbs, so I am a big boy that dont think much ppl would even try to do anything on me... oh yeah the only thing I have used is a block. My sister one day tried to kick me in the "sensitive" area, and I blocked it. She said "HEY!! You can't use that." but I said "You are crazy if you think I am going to let you kick me there." Anyways that is my little story on kung fu...
just b/c you know kung fu doesn't mean you can fight well. Just b/c you dont' know kung fu doesn't mean you can't kick some ass. Styles are for show and reference. Sor of like how BOSE guarantees a certain lvl of quality.. but it's def not anywhere near top of the line. When it really comes down to it, I'd say most ppl subconsciously follow some theories behind bruce lee's jeet... basically just kickin ass with the moves you do best. and.. Wushu is known as the chinese kungfu in most cases, but it's definately evolved to something for show (in the US). As much as I favor jet li movies over bruce lee's fight scenes... bruce lee would totally destroy jet li
I would like to learn kung fu. When I was little I wanted to, but my father was afraid it'll turn me unladylike... No time now that I'm grown up (stiff too!)....
You know in North America nowadays, it seems even more non asian people practice kung fu rather than the actual chinese. Anyone else find that?
kung fu is our chinese specialities and im proud of it... If Stephen Chow is more popular then Bruce Lee and Jacky Chan...will the foreigner see chinese as natural borned Joker?
My son is learning Wing Chun, Wushu and Lion Dance I think some of you may have seen this link!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6bUFLoFdp6w My brothers (I have 2 younger brothers, they are twins - Our group is called ‘Ma Bo Lion Dance’) used to teach kids Lion Dance, Most of them wanted to jump on poles and do all the bad ass moves from lesson 1. But what they don’t realise is that they needed to learn the basics first, they soon lost interest, and now we only teach a selected few who have a passion for it. Shame!!
