Well for me it's harder cuz my parents are born in viet (so they know viet) I'm born in Canada && the WEIRD part is they taught me chinese. Soo I consider myself half chinese half viet. BUT my friend also made a good point is that if you speak a language fluently, it doesn't mean you're that race. So... >.<

All Taiwanese people hold Taiwanese passport (=Zhong Hua Min Guo passport) and are therefore not Chinese nationals as they don't hold Peoples' Republic of China passport.

I think it is better to call ourselves Hua Ren (Hua yun in Cantonese) and Han Tribe! We call "Chinatown" Tang Ren Street..

I bet a traditional Chinese or Vietnamese person will be convinced that you are English because you think English and act more English than Chinese nor Vietnamese! I had thought that I was Chinese until I went to university and met some real Chinese...they think we are not Chinese really in heart! Put it this way, you went to school to study Shakespeare,Jane Austen, Thomas Hardy etc. and what do you know about the great books of literature of China! -scooter

Wrong. There is no such thing as a "Taiwanese passport." Taiwanese passport != Republic of China passport. The Republic of China refers to the territories inherited from the Qing Dynasty - NOT simply Taiwan. It is still a Chinese Republic after all, therefore all citizens of the ROC are still Chinese citizens.

Both citizens from the People's Republic of China and Republic of China are Chinese citizens. Technically, the civil war has not concluded.

Uhh...no, Hua Ren = Zhong Guo Ren. Hua Ren, like Zhong Guo Ren are synonymous with each other in that both can refer to people of ethnic minorities as well as Han Chinese. And only Cantonese (correct me if I'm wrong) call Chinatown "Tang Ren Jie," everyone else calls it "Zhong Guo Cheng."
