indeed i wonder how we will be able to resign/add to our team when the megabucks kick in on wells' contract ($20+ million in the latter yrs?) and we still need pitching this season, towers isnt going to cut it... but we dont have any extra outfielders to trade now that Cat is gone... it will be interesting (but not too optimistic) how this will play out for april...
hehe, but they're cheap enuf to watch... unlike the leafs *cough cough* plus they're likeable enough... i'll cheer for them knowing they'll never win the division... maybe a wild card one of these days...
they need to get a decent pitcher. its a shame they lost out on meche, and lilly. I dont think they have the money to sign zito either... so till they can either 1) get more money for their payroll, or 2) trade for one, they wont be making the playoffs anytime soon.
jays going t o playoffs this year...well extended contract might be affect of being contender of the jays this coming season...
what pisses me off is that we got royce "can't hit" clayton, when the astros signed mark loretta for only a million more. mark loretta is a proven hitter who hit over .280 at pitcher-friendly PETCO. meanwhile we get a bag of chips in royce clayton, who is essentially another johnny mac - good D, no hitting. loretta would have provided us depth throughout the infield in case of injury. imagine how much the jays' offence would suffer without glaus protecting vernon. when delgado was out, wells wasn't nearly as effective. we didn't bother going after lilly, but so long as we offered arbitration, we were going to get some nice picks anyway. just hope that JP doesn't screw them up like he did with russ "can't throw" adams.
as for the contract extension, mjc...so WHAT? vernon is one player. the jays have so many holes to fill it's ridiculous. our #3 and #4 pitchers are 4 and 5 at best. we might as well hold out for this year, and wait until vernon's 2008 salary kicks in (a mere 500k)
dont know why some of you guys are clownin the jays like they one of the crappiest teams. they came second in the division, plus i think they had winning records against the yanks and red sox. it's just that they didnt win against the teams they shouldve. but i do agree we have crappy pitching. only pitcher i think is good is roy holiday. thought aj was inconsistent and forgot how chacin did cuz he was injured for a minute. as for lilly and meche, i think they just mediocre pitchers, they asked for too much.
we need another decent starting pitcher... and i dunno wut they're gonna do with russ adams or ss in the future... he really cant throw to first for some mental reason ^^
hehe, actually, i think rogers centre looks quite nice now that all the bright lights and wide screens have been put in... and they invested in the new astroturf a couple of yrs ago... but wut a stupid move to change the name, it shud have stayed skydome forever.
Jays need to move to the NL East if they wanna compete, cuz the AL East and Central are pretty stacked up.
well, now they're stacking up on cheap pitchers just in case guess we'll have lots of middle relief, lol
are there that many jap baseball fans in toronto? ah well, no matter... i take in a couple of jays games each summer... unlike the leafs, they're affordable
