Friday December 1st 2006 Hong Kong TVB – ONE idea for MANY USES The two series Glittering days and Dicey Business BOTH have the storyline of finding their long lost relative, and it so happened that they randomly meet again. In the series Glittering days, the famous singer Ling Feng played by Roger Kwok and the singing leader Gum Yeen played by Liza Wang are not off to a good start, but they are actually mother and son. And in the series Dicey Business, Chai Foon Cheung played by Bobby AuYeung and Cheung Lai Fu played by Bosco Wong are long lost brothers. Both series use the “finding relatives” line as one of their main plots Another similar point is in Glittering Days Zhu Yok Lan played by Charmaine Sheh, and in Dicey Business Tam Zhu Mei played by Tavia Yeung, they both have a lisp, and when they speak its not clear. Even though in both series, the actors are different, but the ideas are quite similar, also because its airing back to back, hard to prevent people from comparing and expressing their opinions about this series. And a lot of viewers stated that TVB series aren’t as good as they were before. credits: appledaily, crunchster @ asianfanatics.
well, they can only use storylines thought up by their writers and so. i guess they don't have an option. no one likes to watch 50 episodes and 20 episodes seems kinda short to cram everything into. i bet storylines are used over and over again all over the world. it's universal? no more creativity.
Seeing as how people here have some good ideas, it'd be interesting if TVB (or ATV) or whoever put on a series writing competition, kinda like the New Talent Singing Competition, but for TV dramas instead...
yeah that is true..sorta. >.>" and usually..the enemies..like in "to grow with love", myolie wu & andy hui hated each other and in the end..they became lovers >.>" and ALOT, ALOT, of tvb series go that way..lol
lol taiwanese and korean dramas are usually better den the hong kong ones like devil beside you. hehe -^_^
Taiwanese dramas more on college love life and Korean dramas, either the leading actor or actress end up dying, always sad ending =)
yeah, true. -^_^ taiwanese dramas and korean dramas are usually better i think. not as boring and not ALL have the similar plots..haha.
They gotta do something like Supernatural or Lost or Heroes... Have to be more innovative. I'm starting to watch My Boss My Hero the J-Drama... now I don't usually watch series, but this one is damn good.
i guess they're going with the saying "if it aint broke, don't fix it" so until ratings drop, we'll be watching the same things.
lol its true most series are the same but hey... audiences will most likely keep on watching them neways.
