    I suggest you use:

    www.staticice.com.au

it searches for the price of each individual part you search for from different Australian sites and displays them by cheapest offering. You still need to consider delivery costs though, but I suggest this be the first place you look (It seems like you are getting a pretty good deal on most of the parts already). You can also try local computer stores also, they usually give you a discount when you order a lot of parts and since you should already know how much it all should costs you are in a better position to bargain with them.

In terms of the preferability of different component designs and brands I suggest you do some reading to get the latest information, it all depends on what you plan on using your computer for (Check magazines etc for example magazines like PC Powerplay have a little section of the best parts for gaming on a high budget, economical budget etc, you don't even have to buy the magazines just don't be surprised if you get kicked out of the newsagent though :), of course you can always use the internet also)

ERRR... ? Microsoft Windows Vista .... new OS...

  11. im surprised you havent heard of vista... its microsoft's futile attempt to continue the race between its window's and apple's mac os x.

on a side not, the os x wasnt even initially developed by apple. it was xerox that patented it, and because it cannot commercialize it, apple bought it and did it for them.

yes staticice is the way to go =)
    best site eva!!

    check out whirlpool.net.au
they have lots of discussions on which parts are good etc (from users experiences)

and 10,000 rpm hdds eg raptors
unless u have a real need for them, i'd say theres no point
it'll only speed up in accessing data thats ON that drive...
you're better off getting those 500gb+ hdds for the same price

i guess, my thoughts is its a waste to get a case with a psu, and to buy separate psu. either use the one thats given, or get a better case that dont' come with psu's =) antec is always nice

ram u could check out nindeals, with their group buys. they got some really nice ram to overclock with. tho if u want to cut back on prices, def skip the floppy drive, don't think u ever need one no more. and u can always find cheaper ram if ur not planning to overclock, and unless ur really need that graphics card, downgrade to the midrange. 78xx are more than capable to run all current games
