I just got a textbook that I ordered from Amazon. It cost $85+ and when I opened the box, I was pissed. The thing was a thin little softcover book, roughly 300 pages. WTF!
When buying books (or other products), it's a good idea to check the vendor's rating and how long that vendor has been in business, along with other buyers' opinions. Some months ago, I bought a book from a vendor who only has been in business for a few months, but has a few positive ratings. However, the book never arrived and it took a long dispute process to take money back from paypal. Anyway, that was the only problem I ever had with online book purchases. I usually go to the bookstore first and check the ISDN# and the price they charge, as well as the size before ordering them online. Another option is to buy books from students offering cheaper prices. Unfortunately, my college is a public, city-run college, professors come and go every semester, so the books required are almost always different semester to semester.
Same situation here. I find that it's usually cheaper and easier if you just buy or trade off text books with students who've already taken the course, but when new professors demand for different editions every semester, it's no longer possible. Fortunately for me though, we have a bookstore on campus which sells used books for cheap prices, and also buys them back when the semester ends http://www.campusbooks.com/ is a good site for comparing prices for those living in the states.
What dah....auntie really is getting old and hallucinating. I thot you were still in high school??? -huh
i hate buying textbooks too they're so damn expensive i've resulted in borrowing them from the library now
It was about $5 more expensive. There were no used copies. It probably would have been cheaper buying from an Amazon marketplace seller or eBay or half.com, but I was in a hurry to receive it.
heh. I buy and sell used books all the time through school classified. I even make money on used books...like 10 to 5 bucks.
txtbooks are friggin expensive... needed accounting txtbook for intermediate accounting 2 and costed me $200+ cdn...
I bought an "essential" textbook which was 16 pages thick, which was basically 8 A3 pages of values stapled together to make a A4 sized book, cost GBP£8
dude, did you even flick through the book before you buy £8 for freaking 16pages..lmao!! you got conned...
Used books are not always an option if there's a new edition.. -boat <== lol this smiley man looks scared ...
