Inspired by the thread about 'Chinese Fear Factor; is there anything we won't eat?' is the question : What's the most exotic thing you've eaten? Mine would be some rabbit meat my Mom tricked me to eat when I was little, real shark fin soup (felt guilty but it was so delicious...) and reindeer meat when I was in Finland. (whoops, maybe this should be in the Lounge/The Rant forum?)
Bear's paw (I know, I know...it sounds terribly gross in English. So, just don't freak out!)--it costed a fortune, but I have to say, it tasted DELICIOUS!! Two years ago, when I was in China, my dad's best friend who is the boss of a big company invited us to this one fancy restaurant that had this meal as their specialty. It cost around 2000 yuan!! But, it was definately worth it.
Dogfood can taste good as I've heard... Did you know that some Japanese stores sell dog food that looks and tastes 1000x times better than human food? (saw it on telly about the far going Japanese love for little doggies)
You see, I don't mind trying different types of foods even if it sounds or looks nasty. I mean, if it tastes good, then I'll continue to eat it. But if it doesn't, then I won't--if that's the case, I usually end up giving the plate to my mom or dad if they actually like it. You know, now that I come to think of it, my parents have tried various other abnormal animal meat--dog, cat (my parents tell me they taste disguisting and sour), rabbit, snake, eel, pigeon, and something else that looks like a turtle (I don't know what it's called in English).
I wouldn't eat bear claw, not because it sounds gross but out of principle. Lots of bears are threathed with extinction and I personally don't see what the point is eating exotic animals. Chinese believe the special powers the exotic meat can give but I don't believe in those things.
so far,i've eaten tin kai frog cooked in porridge, dried crocodile meat cooked in herbs and deer meat burger.
I haven't really eaten anything I'd call exoctic Shark fin soup, Frogs legs, Snails, Birds Nest Soup, Hmmm come to think about it the most has to be when I was in Vietnam I ate Horseshoe crab
Frog Legs, Snails, Crocodile and Snake Never tried a Bear's paw but I heard from a friend that they are good
Hahaha... bear's paw, frog legs, snails, crocodile and snake.. impressive.. For me, I was thinking of a fruit called Mangosteen! For those who haven't tried it, I highly recommend it
PIG MEAT - TOASTED AND BURN IN FIRE Eat With Sauce , SAuce = makes of PIG BLOOD and Some INgredients ..... BUT it is very Crunchy and NICE .....
ewwie. possom soup sounds gross lol. i really dunno what kinda exotic foods i eat. my mom just adds all htat junk in the soup so i dunno what im eating... =(
I think goat meat was most exotic, lol. But i tried snake, pigeon, and a whole bunch of stuff that i am not sure of, and i think i will neva know.
It's kind of common for me to have eaten Shark's fin soup, bird's nest, venison, pigeons etc coz I'm an Asian? Though I don't eat them everyday at home, apart from bird's nest, the rest of the stuffs can be ordered in restaurants pretty easily. Real asian fruits, not imported, are fantastic too. Yummy and fabulous tastes! I've never tasted turtle soup because I saw a documentary on how turtle soup's prepared, it was really really horrible. With a hook, the cook stick it through the hole and pierce it through the brain of the turtle. Then pulled the whole turtle out of the shell, tearing the skin etc. Ewww..... Most exotic would be bear's paw, alligator/crocodile, cockroaches (freaking chinese medication) and only once whale meat.
