well...in my knowledge, japan and china has always had problems with each other before WWII. This all began when japan wanted to seize korea, which was under the protection of the chinese...since china didnt allow japan to take over korea..this sparked one of the first wars between these two counties. it was after this situation that japan and china started to fight against each other.
now...the war of WWII between china and japan was an inncident, meaning it was not planed for or prepared for. This all began with the event called "The Manchuria inciddent". Manchuria was under the rule of the Chinese warlords...but then the japanese always interferred. japan wanted more land and resourses so they targeted Manchuria. with such hatred towards the chinese....the japanese one day planted a bomb in a train in manchuia and killed the warlord which ruled manchuria...and it was due to this incident WWII started.

everyone has a differnt opinion that is accpetable
if you experienced it from the past, you probably would not forgive since u have witnessed what has happend
but for the new commers these early years, they probably will forgive since holding a grudge from the past wont help anyone

Read in Wikipedia that the bombing was not targeting a chinese warlord. "Manchurian Incident, occurred in southern Manchuria when a section of railroad, owned by Japan's South Manchuria Railway, near Mukden (today's Shenyang) was blown up by Japanese junior officers [1]. Imperial Japan's military accused Chinese dissidents of the act, thus providing an excuse for the Japanese annexation of Manchuria." (From Wikipedia)

like an old saying: what happened in the earlier generations, let it end there.

when i first learned about it, i was resentful towards japanese ppl too, but what's the point? the only thing that really bothered me was the japanese tried to cover it up. i mean, it's not like it's a secret, it's actually out there! but like another saying, what comes around goes around: the atomic bomb.

A review of China's history reveals that Chinese often treat Chinese inhumanly in a far greater destructive scale. Let's hope that they all think and action better welfare and social justice for all in the future.

It is in the past, however, when a nation denies having commited war crimes, I reckon it WILL happen again. That is why the US is there.

Believe it or not, there are still people hunting for NAZI criminals. When found, they are proscuted.

to keep the whole thing short... well... itz this... one word... Japan was .. GREEDY! WWII JAPAN WAS ALREADY INVADING CHINA AND KOREA B4 THEY BOMBED PEARL HARBOR! AT THIS TIME JAPAN HAS ALREADY CONQUERED KOREA AND AFTER THAT THEY WERE SWALLING HALF OF CHINA! THE U.S. DID NOT WANT TO STIR UP TENTIONS DISBELIEVING THEY COULD DEFEAT CHINA! BUT THE BOMING OF PEARL HARBOR ANGERED THEM! SO THEY DESIDED TO FIGHT BACK! IF IT NOT BECAUSE OF THE ATOM BOMB, YES! JAPAN COULD HAVE WON! SEARCH FOR THE JAPANESE WAR STRATEGIES, THEY ARE RATHER INTERESTING AND WILL CERTAINLY TEACH A A THING OR TWO ABOUT SURVIVAL! ~ sorry bout the CAPS ~ well goodnight

Unfortunately, history is written by winners. Winning a battle grant the person the right the make up stories, it is the same with all winners in the world. You think China do not have its fair share of glorifying the unspeakable through history? The literature burning, it only came up because the historians think it was a glorifying idea and not realizing the generations to come will be resentful for the lack of literal history. Chinese Emperors are known to proceed execution without record, if they are not shamed by it, why not record it?
I do think the event was a horrible page in human history, but when Chinese government did not make any aggressive demand about it, I don't blame the Japanese government for not making things right themselves.

The US is always out to protect their own interests. The war in Europe disrupted their trading. They wanted to take action but they didn't have a just cause. The public wasn't too thrilled sending troops overseas either. I believe the US knew about the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor so they just let it happen while minimizing damage. After the attack, they had a just cause to attack Japan and their allies in Europe. If they win they can even gain a foot hold in Asia over the other European countries. It's a CONSPIRACY!!! One thing that pissed me off is that Japan attack them and yet they tried to finish up the war in Europe first. I guess they thought Germany was a bigger threat.

my mom and grandmother will never let me forget what happened in china back then even though i'm only 18.
they would tell me stories about how the japanese made our people dig their own graves, throwing babies into the air then chopping them while the baby was in midair, oh gosh.

and yes, i remember hearing that the japanese tried changing many of their textbooks in order to have the younger generations stand by their talks of national pride and what not.

but no one should be blamed but the government and its official. a simple apology can go a long way, but they refuse to step out. blah! -noclue

*sigh. history is written by winners and survivors. His-story. Its most important the lessons that are learnt and moved on. Not denial and coverup....
