bad habit or not, I have to touch hand rails.

Even without thought I'll hold onto them, run my hand along them as I walk past. Meh. Its not hindering my ability to do day to day activities, so its all good. =]

Like some one said everyone has OCD, it just differentiates with how much it affects your life and what you freak out about. Like me I have this weird thing about picking scabs. Its really bad to the point where if I see a scab, I want to pick at it. Even if its on someone else, and I like fight the urges but if I dont then I stare at it and it bothers me for ever. Sometimes I even give in and like try to pick at it. The people who have been around me for a long time just know its like a peeve on mines and dont freak out too much. Even people who havent known me for a long time are kinda just like "umm ok whatever", but I really freak people out some times. I have the same thing about pimples too, I cant help it. Its gross I know, but we're all weirdos here ehhh?

I dont think OCD is normal though; especially mines. I mean if you just do little things and they dont take over your life then its ok. I was watching MTV and they had a TRUE LIFE series on people who have OCD; its pretty messed up. You guys should watch it, very interesting stuff.

obessive complusive disorder is usually caused by a recurrent thought in the brain that fails to turn itself off, and the more you try to stop the recurrent thought the more it will appear. Like all disorders you should treat about OCD if it is having an impact on your standarad of living. OCD can be treated with behavioral therapy and serotonin-based medication such as prozac.

archiving obsession: all my files have a rigid rules of naming. Photos: date, location/ event for folder name; school work: date, subject, asgn number; songs, the tag must be impeccably filled. My computer has all kinds of regs: no more than 1 column of desktop icons, clean out recycling bin daily, defragment every first monday of the month, virus scan everyday at 6pm, system check every sunday 6pm. I use to image my HD and format my computer every 3 months on the first monday.

To illustrate my freakish obsession to order, here's a story.

I use to keep fashion magazine clippings. I will collect 3-4 copies of each clippings, then file them according to BRAND (of the advertisement)-YEAR-SEASON, MODEL, PHOTOGRAPHER, and by source MAGAZINE. And I made documentation of my collection. Too bad I threw out 80% of them, and ALL The duplicate and triplicates now after a few moves. I used to have BOXES and BOXES of clippings and I use for doodlings :p

So yes, me + order = forever love

My sister has one when she was younger. She would check to make sure the fridge door was shut several times.

OCD to the point that I feverishly claw at gum stuck to asphalt and throw away excess rubble and cement pieces... straighten inoculating loops in the science lab... and ensuring there are no water stains on the chrome of my faucet...

That's extreme, but heck, I do my share of feverish cleaning when I use the microscope too. I clean every slide that ever pass my hand, dust the lens and everything.
And absolutely HATE people who wind up the cable the wrong way ^^b

I think everyone has some form of ocd.... when I'm just sitting around I'm constantly moving just because I notice little things that I need to fix otherwise they bug me to no end... so as long as the habits don't interfere with your life, I don't think they should be considered a serious problem

eeek.. i dunno when something you do goes against common sense.. like having to see the light go off.. and esp. if its pissing you off.. i'd prolly try to fix it somehow.. sometimes all it takes is one experience w/o it.. like try using the boiled water even if you don't see the light go off.. and u might be able to get rid of your fear.. which it prolly is.. eg. fear of not having the water properly boiled

i know i used to be a clean freak when it came to food.. makin sure nothing touches it etc... but then working in the food industry.. u realize how much crap happens to it anyways and ur jus like.. fuck it..

Is it possible to adopt a certain OCD/OCB? I ask because I had this work buddy of mine and he seriously had OCD in regards to sniffing the back of his right hand.. I was cubi neighbors with him and I'd catch him deep in thought sniffing at his right hand, for minutes at a time..After I told him that I noticed him doing that we'd joke around with it, I'd walk pass his cubi and sniff my hand and he'd sniff his hand back at me, lmao *dorky* but it was funny lol. Anyway, then last week, I was in a checkout line at a store and all of a sudden, without realizing it I sniffed my right hand, lol I think I sniffed it for about 2-3 seconds until I realized I was doing it... I was like O.O Omg... I need to stop doing that!!! Then later on in the week I caught myself sniffing my hand again! **O nooooo**... lol when I told him about it and he laughed at me...-down lol well, I was laughing too, so it didn't matter. Anyway, is that possible? Or is it more of a habit that will wear off if I really try not to do it?

Whoa.. OCD radar. I think I have an OCD with keeping my papers clean and straight. I don't like them bent, but I don't think it's too bad because once they do get bent... I stop caring. xD
