How I see it is that someone who is "white-washed" is just basically a term that describes someone who has "lost" or "denied" their culture, has been assimilated in to the "white" or "Western" culture. It's not an insult if it is true. The term "white-washed" has been used and is continually used over and over again, and yes, it MAY sound OFFENDING to some people... In Chinese, the terms 鬼佬 or 鬼妹 are equally as "offensive", ie. you wouldn't want to be called that if you are Chinese.

Good to being proud, just some ppl are discriminating others is lame. Its the same everywhere. As like ur born in the bronx, they round of being over proud of them selfs being more financially/economy better. way to up them selfs. But there are some taiwanese/shanghai ppl don't look that way......... the end of the day chinese is chinese, ppl is ppl. We all like to compete with each other.
Being chinese is who we are, we don't really have a choice. Besides what's so wrong about being chinese?
Now why would I not be proud of being Chinese? We are growing as a world power, we make the best tv series ever, and we have the hottest guys. I -worship Chinese culture!! I grew up in a community where my family was the only asian family, and there was only one other minority family. All the rest were white. Despite these odds, I am a full-fledged chinese pureblood. Don't know how it happened, but very glad I stayed that way. Sometimes I have conflicting thoughts, but that is normal. The intrigue of customs, the innumerable dialects, the deepness of our philosophical ideas... I cannot list all the great things there are about the Chinese. We have a rich culture and I intend on learning and absorbing everything I can about our history and contribute as much as I can to our future.
