hmmm a bit complex to show u a diagram/pictures . give me bit of time, try to get it for ya. Its not really hard to do, but it takes alot of time to re-encode it out.

If you want to convert the dvd file to Divx, you can use a dvd ripper to do that.

But it will take like 1 or 2 hr to do the whole thing, that will also depend what kind of quality you want...

    OKAY.......
    Here's how i do it.
    download VIRTUAL DUB : http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/virtualdub/VirtualDub-1.6.17.zip?download

    1. First open up/install the Virtual Dub
    2. Click on "Open Video File....."
    3. Locate the DVD/VCD
    [IMG]
    4. Find Video file ( its the biggest file there if its dvd it's in separate/multiple file : u need to encode one by one ifs its DVD)

    5. Wait since it will interleaved into edit form
    6. Configure the audio go to Audio tab, follow by clicking Full Processing mode follow by Coversion
    [IMG]
    7. Go to Compression in audio tab and select which audio output encoding u what to make it (mp3 quality is MPEG layer 3)-( the more Hz u do the more the file will be, normal clear audio will be 44100Hz)
    8. Click on Video tab and click on Direct Stream Copy - Must do this unless u want 1gig+ files
    9. On Video Tab click on Compression- Scroll Down and find Xvid
    10. Go to File Tab, click on Save as AVI and SAVE!!!

For dvd's with multiple video files continue to encode all the files. Then all you need to do is open one then follow by clicking on Append AVI segment, and get next AVI follow and etc.

I've tried virtualdub and a few others, but they take too much time. If you're looking for speed, winavi is the best!

I believe that the speed of your CPU also matters.
With a e6600, I can encode a file to divx in about half hour with VirtualDub.

So try doing it on a computer that you're not going to need to use for browsing or gaming in the middle of an encode.
