I love the half melted. but if I don't have time to cook, I would also eat the kind of congee that you cooked for only 10 min.
I like the half melted one, otherwise it's just water and some rice in it which is also called the the "poor man's" version according to some. The version with Thousand Year Eggs, pork, white pepper and freshly chopped onions is my favorite. Some restaurants serves it with crispy wonton pastry wrappers (crumbled in pieces) and at home I would replace that by regular chips.
oh what are you saying now... you're not down wit the congee!!?? I see how it is... congee n chips... ; interesting... =/
I don't think congee is congee unless the rice is pretty much melted. Otherwise, its just soup with rice.
OMg~! i've tried congee with no rice..i know that sounds impossible but i think hey ground it so fine that you cant taste it..its a bit like hotpot..but the water is whitish and more thick =]
I'm with the majority (so far) - love the half-melted stuff. My fave types include lean pork with preserved egg and a fish/sliced beef combo. Yum!
i love congee where the rice is melted but you can still get some rice. Especially love it with pay darn and juu yuk
frankly, I didn't know there was different types of congee...I always eat the half melted rice with thick soup one
Pei tan sau yook chook lol! where the rice is half melted, you can see some rice, but the soup is also think and white
