Best feet forward ... Stumpy the four-legged duck gets motivated. He looks like a duck and he quacks like a duck, but Stumpy the four-legged wonder doesn't really walk like a duck. Not that it bothers him - despite predictions of his imminent demise, the duckling whose weird waddle brought worldwide fame has made it to adulthood. Stumpy was hatched in February with two spare legs, causing his owners at the Warrawee Duck Farm in England to fear the deformed duck would soon die. An Australian duckling named Jake which was born with a similar mutation in 2002 died soon after birth. But Stumpy has made it to fully-fledged duckhood, and has faced the British press to celebrate his coming-of-age. His owner, Nicky Janaway, told the BBC he was "thriving" and had learnt to use his spare legs as stabilisers. "He's doing really well. He is still very tame and loves all the attention he's been getting," she told the BBC. "He won't be allowed to roam the farm because his back legs stick out and could get caught in brambles and I might never find him. "We're making a very big pen for him to make sure he is kept very safe and he has been paired up with Alice - he seems a very happy duck." Mrs Janaway told the BBC she was "gobsmacked" on February 7 when she discovered one of her ducklings had four legs. "It was absolutely bizarre, I was thinking 'he's got too many legs' and I kept counting 'one, two, three, four'," she said.
