depending on how advanced u are... Adaway, Spybot and Hijack This are my tools of choice for antispyware/malware... as far as speeding up ur pc... google maybe a better option that asking here since guides of that nature tend to get long =/
adaware and spybot makes a good combo. Hijack this should be used with caution. However, once you mastered it, it can be a very good too. As aways, clean out ur start up items and delete web junk.

Those aren't guaranteed to speed up your system. Its a start for general cleaning and removal of spyware etc.
format ur comp, and start fresh it runs faster then cos theres no junk on it =) then once u start installing stuff... it'll slow down again.... speed up.... if u wanna try, read up on overclocking =) else just upgrade
Formating is a lot of work, mostly with the work leading up to it. backups and what not. you generally tend to leave that as a last resort.
guess im used to formatting fresh install everything only abt 1-1.5hrs cos data u can keep, its just reinstalling windows and the software u need i got multiple partitions to keep allt he stuff i want, so all i ever do is just wipe out the windows one plus lucky i got a win xp lite =D only has the necessary stuff i want, so installation is much quicker the full install is only abt 750mb hehehe but updates takes longer >< i guess if u got time, do a fresh install and install all the adware stuff to prevent other stuff loading on =)
formating is also not good to do that frequently as it affects your drive. ghosting with an image and multiple partitions are effective alternatives.
yeah i know formatting isn't htat good for drive >< i guess im just lazy... i think other thing to keep in mind is how long u expect to keep your pc? mines already outdated =(
^ sucks. im about to reformat my old pc cuz its corrupted. and that would be my..... i dunno how many times.... oh well.. its time i get a new hard drive to replace this old 20G anyways lol
ad aware is one good software .. changing a anti spyware wont free up much memory .. instead you should check out the anti virus ..
yep exactly what i do. I clone my harddrive with acronic true image after a fresh install with all the software i need and all my settings then if the comp ever gets to point where things arent running as they should, i just reclone it back to the hdd and voila, no need to sit through a windows install and everything is there as you want it
