Hi, me and my friends are going to New York for the first time next month and will be staying for 9 days. -boat Now I'm wondering how we should prioritise the time. What musn't we miss? Attractions, historic sites, shoppingplaces? Any favorite bars, restaurants, events or concerts? thanks for your assistance
:S I wouldnt wanna go there...but cant tell u where u should... cuz i never been there >_< anyway... im jealous of u! Wish i could go to NYC too!!! Hope you will have a lot of fun!
Hmm, if your a hot girl whos legal stop at my house . Just becuase your shirt says Cute and your pants say Juicy, doesn't mean its true. Please inquire outside opinions prior to judging your "hot factor" =]
There is really not much to see at Ground Zero. Just a big hole. You can go to attactions like: - Free ferry ride to Statue of Liberty - Statue of Liberty - Empire State Building - Central Park - Wallstreet - Chinatown - Time Square If you want to buy some cloths it is usually cheaper in New Jersey. It is just on the other side of the Hudson River.
Thanks I hope so too. I will report the journey for you later so you may consider if it's worth to go to NYC -bigsmile
Haha, then I'll helpfully drive around your house instead =P But I may drop of my gorgeous friend istead =P
^ You can have all the quotes in one post, just so you know... But when I visited NYC I went to nearly all of the major museums. MoMA (Museum of Modern Arts) is not to be missed, the 10 feet wide Monet was stunning! The Mets is kind of forgettable unless you are really into the Classical period. Guggenheim is a real gem, the building is a piece of art in itself with the curves. Have to see a show at Broadway, get discounted tickets at TKTS. Walk on Brooklyn Bridge (it's like a 45 min walk) over to Brooklyn, it's pretty but you have to pick a warm day, the breeze is COLD. Central Park. 5th Avenue (though it's totally overrated) If you are a Food Network person, go visit Chelsea/Meatpacking district, the Chelsea market houses the Food network studio and there are quite a few good stores for food items. Visit Greenville Village/NYU area for authetic Japanese food. Century 21 for shopping That's pretty much it... ETA> There's nothing to see at Ground Zero, absolutely nothing. It's a tourist spot for its nothingness and its significance in patriotism =_=b I was really annoyed with the lot of patriotic Americans giving lectures about 9/11...
Hahaa, now I know =P Thx! Well, I'm new here =P And thanks for the detailed information. I think I'll gonna put on A LOT of weight during those few days
Oh, and buy a pass for the NYC metro, I think it's 24 USD for 7 consecutive days or a week (which in fact is different). And no, you won't put on too much weight because you will walk A LOT. BTW, don't mind me asking, what area are you staying at? Hostel within Manhattan? PS> I nearly forgot, DON'T TAKE THE BUS! Walk to the subway station instead, it takes absolutely forever for a bus to get anywhere...
You could go to one of the Broadway shows. That should be an experience What ever you do, please beware of the Bronx.
Info on discounted tickets: TKTS Of the currently offered shows, these are the must-sees, not sure if it's going to be THAT useful, but I doubt the line-up will change dramatically so. BROADWAY BEAUTY AND THE BEAST -- Disney show always good, nearly. CHICAGO -- Classic Broadway show HAIRSPRAY -- Classic Broadway show, Mamma Mia-esque LES MISERABLES -- THE Classic Broadway show MAMMA MIA! -- Classic Broadway show MONTY PYTHON'S SPAMALOT -- It's a feel-good fun one, especially if you watch Monty Python. RENT -- Classic Broadway show TARZAN -- Disney show always good, nearly. THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE -- It's a feel-good fun one. THE COLOR PURPLE -- Not that sure about this one, but it should be good from the awards it got. OFF-BROADWAY -- generally less fancy, but often got better song and set design (considering they don't have a moving stage ) ALTAR BOYZ I LOVE YOU, YOU'RE PERFECT, NOW CHANGE OLIVER TWIST
