This is a horrible fuking incident. This Korean prick(again, not racist) didnt think about the outcome of this massacre. He thinks death is like the easy way out. However, with his death, many Asians will feel kinda odd in the way of discrimination. Watcha think?
Both will begin to happen. Oddly enough people weren't stereotyping white people when columbine happened. Exactly. The same thing will happen when a non white incident of this scale happens, racial profiling, stereotyping, discrimination etc.
In regards to the asian thing, its no big deal, it was an isolated incident and the racial aspect will blow over in a few weeks. Also, the guy was mentally deranged. It has nothing to do with race, its a failure of societal systems. Americans are always so laissez faire about everything, until it explodes in their faces like this incident. Here is a link proving that this guy was obviously completely crazy... and insanity have nothing to do with your skin color or cultural background. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18169776/ some extracts i thought were particularly revealing. The material is deeply angry, crying out against unspecified wrongs done to him in a diatribe laced with profanity. “I didn’t have to do this. I could have left. I could have fled. But no, I will no longer run. It’s not for me. For my children, for my brothers and sisters that you f---, I did it for them,” Cho says on one of the videos. “When the time came, I did it. I had to.” And “You had a hundred billion chances and ways to have avoided today,” Cho says. “But you decided to spill my blood. You forced me into a corner and gave me only one option. The decision was yours. Now you have blood on your hands that will never wash off.” This guy had been in mental hospitals a couple times already and because no one gave a shit that he could have been dangerous to other people he was let out. There are alot of other people with blood on their hands because this man wasn't dealt with sooner.
You think that matters for americans. Ignorance seems to be a prevailing theme. I assume it will happen more so in high schools and universities.
Because it's the easiest thing to be understood. "That person's got different skin colour than us, he/she must be weird/wrong in the head/evil etc etc" Proof of unenlightenment.
Calling all Americans ignorant makes you just as ignorant as those blaming asians for what had happened.
^ Why make yourself redundant (no pun intended) when "prevailing theme" already MEANT majority? It's not necessary. Really
The first comment I heard about the dood being asian was: "it is always someone that you never suspect" But in no time, it could become a political tool against asians... The media haven;t made it a racial thing though, in my opinion
Um, I was referring to his first sentence "You think that matters for americans". He lumped us together by our nationality and made a judgement implying that all americans don't think it matters. That's what makes him ignorant. If he had said "You think that matters for the majority of americans," I wouldn't have said anything.
the media tries to say that there is no discrimation...blah blah blah. then why was there a need to mention "asian"? when columbine happened, i never heard 'caucasian boys'. i heard depressed, angry young boys. their colour was never mentioned. so the media says that there won't be any discrimination, but they are the ones that started it. the media is full of bullsh*t.
