Not sure if this topic is old or not... Butta..... for those who dont live with their parents anymore but moved out... What are ur experiences with that? Mine is.... I have always lived with my parents (and loved it) but because I am doing my traineeship in another country I live by myself for a few months now... I just rent a room... My household mostly comes home pretty late...So most of the time I'm home alone. I like the fact that I have a lot of privacy and freedom...I can do whatever I want and have a lot of time for myself... but It also has a big disadvantage... It is too quiet sometimes...and I have to think about what to cook every night... once i figured that out I go to the supermarket after work, I cook and do the dishes.... Every week I do the laundry, clean and change sheets etc.... Makes me feel like a housewifey... At home I never had to do anything...>_<... I guess it is good for me... I can become independent and I can practice for later hehe.. Are you guys enjoying living by yourself or still with parents?
i wonder wat u do at home alone ...one u go bak to netherlands u'll b living with paretns again lol so don't get ur hopes too high =p
hmm.. I still stay with my parents. I stayed in hostel for 2 years and then moved back home. Not much difference anyway since S'pore is pretty small and can go home anytime. But I must say that staying home is much nicer.. feel the warmth.. home sweet home
Living without your parents can be quite stressful especially you got the misfortune to co-hab with a roommate/housemate from hell. But then I guess if I can afford to live without a roommate/housemate, it's UBER NICE.
I am at uni and live on campus +do whatever you want, when you want +cook what you like, when you like, eat what you like +no parents to scrutinise what you do +being able to walk down the hall to chill with friends +lock the door and chill on your own when you dont want anyone to disturb you +being independent -having to cook yourself and wash the dishes -not being able to cook as well as my mum -having to do my own laundry and having to walk to laundarette with bags of clothes -loud neigbours playing hiphop at 3am in the morning when you have to wake up at 8am -cleaning the room and toilet.... -small living space sure there are plenty more +/- but i cant think of anymore...
I don't mind the cooking (since I am okay good at it) or the dishes or the cleaning as long as I don't get roommates from hell... I hate it when people leave dishes in sinks for a week! So I look forward to affording my own flat
i dont mind cooking too much, but it doesnt compare to parents food, and you have to wash up gah! after eating you just want to let it rest and enjoy but no... there are pots, pans, chopsticks, knifes, dishes, bowls, cups to wash... I dont mind dishes being left as long as it dont grow mold or get my dishes dirty. Most annoying thing a person does here is she leaves all the crap on her plate in the sink... so at one point the sink was blocked with rice, pasta and veg. She didnt even have the decency to clean it out when it was clear it was blocked... yeh im looking forward to moving off campus next year, cause less people to live with and they all mates and chinese, so the food will be good
Beware of slob Chinese =_=b I've seen it. And you just have to steamline your cooking so that you use 1 pot, 1 bowl and 1 pair of chopsticks That's what I use most of the time to make a 3 dish meal (plus the rice cooker of course)
I prefer to live with my parents and that's where I am now. But having to cook isn't a reason, I don't even eat at home majority of the time. It's more about the cost of moving out, which is the responsibility that I'm afraid to take. I couldn't possibly afford to buy a place and I'm guessing a decent price will get me a small, crampt basement with no sunlight coming in..so yeah, I'm gonna stay where I am for now.
im thinking to move out with a friend of mine to.. so we just rent a house or something.. i just have to see how it feel etc.. but i doubt i will stay out for long time
Should be ok as they are quite clean themselves and dont leave mess around! Yeh that stuff is the bare minimum, but most of the stuff i cook (whether its chinese or western) need more!!!
Currently staying with my mum and i cant wait until i goto uni so that i can get away from this roof as soon as possible. I dont mind cooking my own food and doing all the washing but i would rather not be lonely. But anything is better than here.
