when my friends trip and fall i laugh. when stranger fall, not so much. too scared to react with all the freaks in this world. ppl get killed for looking at a person.
but this does remind of this time when i was listening to the radio, and this guy had to go in for surgery to have his left testicle removed. unfortunately, the docs removed the wrong one. as it turns out, when the patient went to sign the papers, he look over the form that was filled out b/c he didn't have his glasses. i couldn't help but laugh. i know it was so mean, but honestly, if ur gonna have one of ur nuts removed, wouldn't u want to make sure the right one was gonna b coming off?

Well said. Don't we all love seeing other's misfortunte to reinforce the fact that we are fortunate?

thers always good n bad with everything
plus wen u see them with misfortune, it mite mean the fortune comes to u =)
its like say ur gambling, they lose = u win
or they don't get the job, so u get it =)

  6. lol hope the other person don't get the job is bad karma reno... -nono

Not me. My sis does that. She loves watching movies based on real stories that are sad and unfortunate to remind herself of herself how fortunate he is.

But I dun. Unless the misfortune has some direct consequences to be, Im neutral to others' misfortunes. Eg of sth that actually affects me: The bell curve. In my uni, we go by the bell curve. Do do well, there mut be ppl who do bad. Do pass, there must be ppl who fail. Hence, their misfortunate becomes my fortune. But it is not their misfortune that makes me happy, but my own fortune that does so. Thats the difference.

BTW, what's up with all the HUGE sigs?

Uhm let's not get off-topic here by discussing the morality of this issue. If we wanna talk about karma, that would be a thread in itself :)
The reason for this topic is i was curious if u peeps feel secretly happy at someone's misfortune. If no, fine. If yes, please share events or occurences of any misfortunes and to whom it happened to that made u feel glad/happy (secretly of course).

lol.. you are one strict thread starter..

BTW.. is this meant to be a discussion thread?

  13. yes.. I'm secretly happy that this thread will turn into spam... -devil mwhahah hahahha *cough* hahaha..

yeah it is a discussion thread...
but i was just trying to steer clear of the "is it morally right or wrong to secretly feel happy at someone's misfortune" discussion coz that's kinda boring :) Besides people are bound to say it's wrong/evil/mean/nasty/bad karma to feel secretly happy at someone's misfortune...
I would find it more interesting if people would just share their true life stories/events on when/why they felt secretly happy etc. and at whom's expense.

well.. then basically you just wanna hear from ppl who support your interesting view that its fun and happy seeing ppl in despair?

lol.. thats no discussion if its only one side of the picture.. haha.. no offense though.. its your thread.

zzz OMG no. That's not what i mean. I asked a question: Do u feel secretly happy so i expected an answer : Yes/No.
If yes : what happened/whom it happened to... etc.
And not a discussion on oh it's wrong/OK to feel secretly happy.
Discussion could be on why the person felt happy?
n by the way u put it.. i think u don't get what i mean at all.
I NEVER said it was fun and happy seeing ppl in despair. Duh.
By asking a question like this and using the word 'secretly' I think i have already established the fact that it's NOT common or OK to be happy seeing ppl in despair... but sometimes it do happen to us. Unless u r such a saint, u never experienced that b4, I dunno.
And in those rare occasions that u felt 'that feeling', u could share it here. There i hope that's clear enough to u.

Well it depends on what it is and who's involved e.g. if something bad happened to someone I dislike then yes, I would be pleased. But generally I've been taught to not laugh at other's misfortune because you never know it could happen to you in the future

In general, I would be happy that misfortune befall on SOMEONE ELSE instead of myself, unless of course it is on someone I care greatly. But I guess it's the unwritten faux-pas to point and laugh right? So I will stop now.

OK if the misfortune was big and i felt happy about it i would secretly be happy but if the misfortune was small and it happened to someone BUT my mates i would just laugh out loud and make the person feel like crap
