This is just a general question about thinning shears. do they just make your hair look thinner and less poofy, or are there certain hairstyles that require thinning? What else does thinning do for you? thanks.
I do not thin. It damages your hair and Im not prepared to kill my hair just to look better. I look already good with my dyed, styled spikey hair =)
How does thinning damage your hair. I used thinning shears on my brother hair and his hair was a little less puffier. Looks really nice when he styles/straigten it. The outcome of the hair depends on your hair type or your stylist XD.
Thinning gives u better control to spike up your hair. Unfortunately for me, every time i asked to have my hair thinned, they end up cutting it short.
Basically, what he said. I thin my hair myself everyday because I hate poofyness. You should get a pair of thinning shears. Go to Sally's Beauty Supply if you have one in the area and purchase a pair. They should cost you less than $10 and are basically scissors, but one arm appears to have 'teeth'. Essentially, it allows you to easily thin your hair and come closer to acheiving your desired look at home. I would first try going to the salon, however, to properly set your expectations of what is possible with your hair type. Do it by yourself. You can't really fu-k up your hair with thinning shears, unless you cut in the same spot like 10 times.
i thought thats all that thinning does? =/ well since i leave my hair longer (not long long) then its always nice ot have it layered so it doesn't feel too thick. and its easier to style/gel up just that layering takes effort (not that i do it...) but still gotta sit there for longer @ hairdressers ><
so explain how cutting ur hair damages ur hair?? layering is just a process of cutting to make hair feel "thinner" that is, less hair is there so its not as uncomfortable etc hair drying up doesn't depend on a haircut, im sure any1 knows that... some ppl have naturally oily or drier hair... u dye/bleach/colour ur hair that will dry it out, cos ur changing all the bonds. same applies with curling/perming, its just a simple rearrangement of the S-S bonds
Thanks for the comments and suggestions, guys. I already own a pair of thinning sheers, but I'm having trouble getting started. How do I use them? Do I cut from the scalp or what? thanks
just cut from middle of hair. Not from the scalp and not from the end. dont do throughout the hair but only partially will look better.
my hair sucks always thick, that why i always tell the dude cutting thinner is as possible so i can style it probably
Start off very slow with thinning shears, they don't work well at putting the hair back on if you cut off too much. Start cutting only about 1/3 of the length off in small bits and see how it looks. As you become more comfortable with them you can experiment with cutting deeper and a little more. These cut roughly 50% of the hair that you snip, leaving the area thinner and easier to style.
