i have a lump on both sides behind my ear, left ear lump is bigger and the right ear lump seems small so i guess it just started to develop. it hurts! :( is it just a pimple? my mum looked at it and said its a non-red lump. what the hell can it be?
WHOA!! This is strange i had the same scenario too..i think. U mean the ear lobe right? Yeh i had some painful lumps there but it went away after a few weeks...Is it the same thing ure experiencing right now?
I think you should go see a doctor...xpecially if it's hurting. I have a lump behind my ear too but I know why I have it...damn cartilage piercings...
I think you might have the same thing as I do....hopefully. I went to my doctor and he sent me to a specialist.......after seeing the specialist I was told that it was a "Lymph Node" which normally enlarge because they are the bodies filtering system for bacteria. But only your doctor can verify that.
it could be a keloid (i think that's how its spelled) sometimes, that develops from bacteria or i also think from irritation of the earring rubbing against the ear. u should go see the docs. i think if it's serious, it has to b removed but i had a friend that had a small one and the docs told her to crush up aspirin and apply it to the ear. after awhile, it went away. b4 u do this, u should get professional opinion first
not quite.. its simply an excessive continuous reproduction of cells, at rapid rates... it is not caused by bacteria nor irritation, it does in fact CAUSE irritation and itchiness.. it usually occurs around the ear area, the neck area, the upper back, and the chest.. altho it does also appear below the waist.. the only way of ridding keiloids are to surgically remove it and skin graft it, compression, or injection of steroids. it is not curable from any medication. it is not fatal.
it aint cancer... cancer are cells that reproduce and mutate... this isnt... no offence, but i just hate when people mistaken keloids with cancer... cancer kills.. this doesnt..
All of you are wrong except Vincent! It's called the "LYMPH NODE." Lymph nodes act as filters, with an internal connective tissue filled with lymphocytes that collect and destroy bacteria and viruses. When the body is fighting an infection, lymphocytes multiply rapidly and therefore it swells and enlarges.
hhmmpphhh ... lymph node huh? that's certainly interesting; how it swells and enlarges just so it can destroy bacteria and viruses. one would have guessed some sort of infection.
hmm.. no expert myself. But my take is: if it hurts, just consult a doc. That will at least put your mind at ease even if you are certain it is harmless.
Lymph nodes do not swell because lymphocytes are multiplied quickly. They swell because thats the location where all the "bad stuffs" are filtered and collected from the lymphatic fluids and destroyed. Btw, we have a ER doctor on board, y not PM him/ her and ask.
