How true do you think this is: When a guy says he wants a partner with a sense of humor, he means he wants someone who will laugh at his jokes. When a girl says that she wants someone with a sense of humor, it means she wants someone who's funny and will make her laugh. All these years I've been with my guy, I don't think he's laughed much when I try to be funny, although he tries to do things to make me laugh all the time. I'm not a comedian or anything, but I make girls laugh sometimes. Sometimes guys will say, "She's funny!" but without laughing. I think guys just don't like it when girls try to be funny. Agree/Disagree?
I suppose guys and gals express amusement differently. But guys do like gals who are entertaining and fun and vice versa. And trying to be funny is often not funny, guys and gals alike.
I like girls who are funny... funny as in they can crack jokes so I can LMAO.. no point in just one person doing all the talking and the other jus laughs.. how dull is that??
If the person is not laughing or at least smile, he definitely thinks it's not funny When a person say 'you are funny' without laughing, that's probably sarcasm.
Guess everyone has a different sense of humor, not everyone will laugh at the same joke. Some might find it funny, another might find it boring....., ie: somebody trips over a banana peel. In this situation, some will laugh at the person saying he's so clumsy, while others could say poor guy and hope he didnt break any bones. I dont think that gender plays a role in this, its more like the character of the person.
Funny as in create humor. Need not exactly be telling jokes. Can be the facial expression, action, the way you speak, how you respond in conversations.. right?
@Xiaojia: Yup, don't exactly have to be telling jokes. When i say the person has a sense of humor, it may also apply to his/her attitude towards life. Like for example he/she can still crack a joke or two (not crude ones of course) when something bad happens and make you feel better, that sort of thing.
Maybe he has a different sense of humor. I like girls who can make me laugh. If not with jokes, then by tickling.

True. To me, you're either a humorous person who is naturally funny, or you're someone trying hard to be funny, which usually ends up backfiring. Most guys and girls are best at being funny when they don't try to be. Yeah, I guess the guys who don't like girls who are funny either have no sense of humor themselves, or they are one of those insecure types who find the girl's humor threatening. I agree that a certain aspect of it is dependent upon the person's character, but generally speaking, I'd still say that guys and girls see humor differently. One example I can think of is if you turn on the Three Stooges in a crowded room, most of the women will roll their eyes and walk out while the men start ROTFL. Most guys I know associate a good laugh with blunder, dark, or slap-stick humor. Yes, pretty much anything that makes you laugh. I guess it has something to do with the definition of "sense of humour" and the reaction to "humourous gag"... there's a gap between male and female there. Girl generally like to hear jokes and are more on the receiving end (in general) though they are already told all the jokes in the world. yea but thas still cracking jokes... with action it's more of acting goofy... anyone can try n act goofy... jus like a fat chick can try n act cute...(no offense big girls<---lol why I sound like lee-lee jus now). But do fat chicks get positive attention when they try to act cute?? So, when ya cracking good jokes then that can def. make a guy laugh... n at the same time possibly still maintain a level of maturity...
^ haha.. sounds more like you only know how to tell jokes.. But ecko brought up a good pt abt lvl of maturity. The way we add humor to a situation realy depends on the occasion and mood. And that reflects the lvl of maturity too. But if in a relax mood, small group, I prefer people who are both verbally and visually humorous.. with the small little gestures that can really make you laught -lol
Not forgetting too, that people who make jokes do not always have a 'good' sense of humor, those that crack jokes at people's expense.

Sometimes guys will say, "She's funny!" but without laughing. cause it probably wasn't that funny... -lol. I dunno it's easier for some than others... but if other people are -rotfl lmtao... and your bf is not... then something is up with him n it's not you..
