Meh, I like the Victorian style anyway :p

Hmmm, dressing like Pride and Prejudice (empire waist + flowy dress) sounds good too :9

i hated that book, i got 60% in my first semester of grade 12 english cuz of that novel, then in the next semester when we started reading Shakespeare i managed a 97% average. Goes to show that interest in material goes a long way towards obtaining good marks.

@ribsandbbqbeef: So that's how 709 looks like! Reminds me of X-Men Mystique! :D and my goodness I am sure u'd be the centre of attraction with that Emperor's outfit...
@Hiake: Cleavage wouldn't be a problem.. There's so many sophisticated push-up maximizer bras nowadays :D
There are many costume shops and online sites where you can just rent the outfit instead of buying it :)

Meh, not a fan of Austen one way or another, but the era's right... Their fashion is the most forgiving to fleshy people :p The clothes doesn't look right on stick figures... -devil

^ Yup yup... because the actors confessed that they don't dare looking down when they have to act alongside Gong Li because it embarasses them :p It was SO FUNNY.

Hahaha, I like that. I enjoyed the movie tremendously. Aside from the brilliant colors, wonderful costumes, and visual effects, my favorite scenes were when the women were running...too bad they couldn't do slow motion haha lol....

The designs were beautifully done... even though the film was only decent @_@b

Jay Chou acted better than I thought... And Yeh Lau was amazing (even though I hated his character) and Gong Li was just... breathtaking (with or without that cleavage)

@babyrain: not true, fleshy people should show SOME flesh to appear slimmer, serious. Not too much, just SOME.

haha, I was thinking the same thing.....specifically Pam Anderson when she first started out....

Meh, i still think Jay Chou sux. He CANNOT act.
I thought Gong Li's character was a total b*tch... What with the incest and all that. I totally rejoiced when Chow Yun Fatt thwarted her rebellion plans and I so did not sympathise with her even though she was forced to consume poison :) I loved the ending.
The only character I sympathised with is Jay for having to rebel against his dad just bcoz of his mom and takin his own life after. Ye Liu, well his character sux... Sleeping with his stepmom AND his sister?! My God... lol.. how much more sinful can this guy get?

I agree. I didn't care much for the story. I just enjoyed the visuals. That director (whatever his name is) does a good job with colors and costumes....didn't he direct the movie with Leung Chiu Wai & Cheung Zi Yi in those beautiful red costumes about the fall of the Autumn Zhou Dynasty?

I really liked Chow Yun Fat's performance. Jay Chou performed above my expectations, and Gong Li performed at her usual quality...

Meh, on the other hand, Chow Yun Fat was a ruthless one... I would say he "forced" Gong Li (for the rebelion) by his poisoning too...

I feel bad for all of them, except for Ye Liu and the young kid (that kid's creepy...)

I hate Ye Liu's character is like... retarded and have the maturity of a 5-year old (or less), which is unattractive to the extreme.

@ribsandbbqbeef: Don't like Zhang Yi-Mou in general after his bad break with Gong Li (back in the days), his films now are so cynical and everyone are just so... bitter and evil. Very unpleasant in terms of reading the characters.

Yeah, Jay should stick to singing...

Have you noticed that Gong Li usually plays the bitchy woman role? I think it comes very naturally to her. If you read about her as a person off the screen, she's actually pretty bitchy in real life as well....
