anyone here uses a mac computer? im just wondering if there is any, cuz there are tons of articles or threads about pc here. i use mac intel core duo
The only thing nice about Mac is that they look nice on your desk other than that its pretty much pointless there is nothing a mac can do that a pc can't do, but there are lots of things a pc can do and a mac CANT do.
macbook here, not too happy, going for a 12" lenovo or something smaller either sony vaio or toshiba next time i get a laptop =)
I don't know, the fact that MAC never crash is really tempting. That's one huge thing that PC CANNOT do: Guarantee that it will never crash (because it will).
lol plz do tell what a current Mac can't do and a PC can do? i wanna see how u spin this one... i got my lmao picture ready for this... -lol
Macs crash plenty. If it never crashed, they wouldn't keep pushing new revisions of their OS with bug fixes They just crash less than Windows PCs, which crashes rediculously.
My experience with Mac of course is limited, but thusfar I have yet to crash a Mac... I guess it is indeed a relative thing, given that PCs crash on a regular basis, Mac's sometimes crashing may be very tempting...
I concur...the crashing on a mac is low...hence you never hear about it crashing...but because the install base of most computers is a micro$oft OS, which crash more often we here it more often. But i've had my pc running for 2 years and i only had to wipe it once due to me tweaking the registry and corrupting it :( easy upgrades....u buy one of those imacs....it is impossible/extra work to upgrade any of the internal components...like add new ram, swap a video card out, change a network card or even add a plugin sound card. To be able to do that on a mac u gotta shell out at least 2.2k to buy one of the pro desktop that actually come in a tower and not an integrated unit. On top if your mac ain't got about 2GB of ram parallel's run ridiculously slow...thus making pc applications run even slower...of course you can use bootcamp and swap back and forth with the os...but honestly everytime u needed to do somethin with OSX u would reboot and then reboot again to go back to windows...i find that just annoying. Given that a pc would like 2GB of ram especially if you usin vista...but a xp box is perfectly fine with 1GB of ram
adding ram, upgrading hard drives, changing network cards can all be done rather simply on an imac... upgrading the CPU on the newer intel based imacs are a chore, but still possible... upgrading the video cards probably a no no haha, but honestly... this is really a cheap shot at macs... it's like looking at a car, doesn't matter how your engine runs, or if u can mod it, as long as it can run the same times as it's peers... Mac's are not slow I don't know where u get that idea from, they run fine to me and I'm still running on a 933mhz ibm ibook with 256mb of ram on OSX... I'm not a graphics designer so I don't need the full 2GB, and for sure most people aren't gonna need even 1GB of ram... even now, I don't see the need for PC's to run 4GB of ram unless ur playing BF2 hah... or doing heavy graphics design... also I don't see the problem in rebooting, it all comes down to preference, that's not a flaw in the design...
I guess it IS an order of preference, I don't mind the well equipped Macs at school With like $5000 worth of softwares And the fact that they are generally run more smoothly than the PCs... and the huge screen is definitely pluses
And why compare desktop pcs to cars? Compare the iMac to other desktop pcs, they are a lot easier to upgrade. I have had my macbook crash on me. Less than the win xp but still.
dats right why would mac owners want to swap video cards....they have a game library the size of 2" swimming pool.....besides that..... i'm just pointing out flaws in their design and not taking a cheap shot at your precious mac....i'm not the only person that has taken shots at mac....pcworld has too...read article http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,130994-c,macs/article.html they point many flaws with macs...nothing is perfect The ram issue is true, you'll find articles in tech forums, my share of dealin with slow ass macs and friends who have 1gb of ram on their systems and they find is extremely sluggish and dats all i hear from them. Ram useage is based on what you need to do...for example a basic home user won't ever need 1GB or 2GB of ram cuz all they do is browse the net and do word processing...all of which 512MB of ram is more than sufficient. 4GB of ram is recomended for a lot of 3-D programming, photograph manipulation or cad software and programming. Pick up a 3-D program and do some of the heavy rendering on a machine with 512or 1GB to a machine with 4GB or so you'll see a significant reduction in rendering time because the system has more memory to write temporary files.
i never said macs were perfect... i just said macs could do what PCs can do... I'm not sure what ur ram issues are, but besides my boot time, nothing takes long periods of time to load... I thought i stated heavy graphics design... I understand when 4gb of ram is necessary, but for 90% of us little people who are NON graphics designers anything more than 2GB is a waste of money...
in fact strangely (?) enough the mouse of Apple can detect a left clicky and a right clicky (that's from my experience), of course it is not as accurate as PC mice (with 2 REAL clicks) but it's damn impressive in its recognition ability in there. It is strange, I have yet to know a graphic designer (not game, GRAPHIC) who doesn't use Mac...
