I've been planning on buy a desktop recently and running down to 2 options. They're identical except their hardrive storage and one has AMD Athlon($595.95) and one has Intel Duo Core($597.99). Core 2 Duo vs Athlon 64 X2... Core 2 Duo wins hands down. It's faster, generates less heat, and highly overclockable. Why the super low profile needs? just curious.
are you sure that the intel one costs less than the one with the AMD? aren't they usually more expensive? i'd go for intel. they are better than AMD in general.... the laptop that i'm using now it running on AMD, and it gets really hot after a short while which is rather annoying, i think the same goes for desktops...
that's not always true, AMD single cores are better than Intel's... atleast that's how it was 6months ago heh i havent' checked the market in a while >.<
Indeed... AMD FX used to beat the old intel cpu... until now core2 duo kick amd ass... Now we'll see if the quadro or eight core that amd will release during 2008 :S. and yeah amd are slow :S
single cores are out these days, but i think the only single core intel offers are the pentiums and the core solos, but im not sure how they go against the athlons (the athlons beat the pentiums, not sure bout the solos) in the current world, dual core intels core 2 duos rule
meh... this is just cpu single or dual or core 2 duo or whatever is... they are cpu. who cares! technology advanced so fast that you never have the latest technology so here the tip... never buy top of the line pc oh yeah... amd announce AMD Quad core -->http://www.channelinsider.com/article/AMDs+New+QuadCore+Chip+is+a+Phenom/207308_1.aspx
$2.04 different, for sure go for the intel. unless you really want to save the $2.04 and skip out on the overclock and AMD will generate more heat which is a bonus and save you money during the winter if you live in a cold surrounding =D
Well so far Amd does not have the technology to compete with Intel's core 2 duo or core 2 quatro, so i'd say get Intel. My brother's been using it and its more reliable and efficient than Amd.
ummm it does matter, youll benefit a lot from dual core and many things these days you do on your comp will benefit from having 2 than one, plus dual cores are cheap these days and in my eyes standard single cores are in my opinion budget users or people who use their comps for lite stuff life web surfing yeh lookin forward to see how they stand up to the core 2 duos some bench marks were just released, they perform just better than the 8800GTS but come no way near the GTX or ULtra http://techreport.com/reviews/2007q2/radeon-hd-2900xt/index.x?pg=1
not bein mean but im a AMD fan lol dont like intel sucks! intel for nerdy ppl -noclue i prefer AMD dual core n same goes to "most" gamers i know they all used AMD right now intel 2 core duo is the best but soon AMD be the best in the market as u all know AMD is working with ATi graphics n soon i heard my m8 sed AMD is gonna make processors built in with the graphics card soo all in 1 they gonna design the processor to work well with ATi gc! when that happens it be perfect processor n graphics !! bye bye intel lol-boat
You can be an AMD fan all you want. The Core2Duos are just better than the AMD 64 x2, which you even admitted yourself. Just FYI. My current desktop is actually an AMD 64 x2 3800+ My laptop is a 1.6 Core2Duo. After using an laptop with a TL-52 for a month, then trying out the 1.6 Core2Duo... it made my laptop decision a lot easier. The AMD mobile unit is lacking a bit, it's comparable to the CoreDuo, but still a little slower IMO. So don't assume I'm on the intel boat... I'm not brand bias, I'm performance-cost bias.
anyway yeah AMD processor on laptop are shit intel ones on laptop are way way better i got an intel processor on my laptop 1.7ghz just a normal intel centrino processor works well can play cs.1.6 n all what i really want is a AMD FX processor !
