Well, this kinda just hit me... but how do the rest of the asian population celebrate mother's day? go Yum Cha or just flowers/chocolate..? All i did was buy my mom her favorite flowers, Orchids.
I dont think there's a specific chinese way to celebrate. On mother's day, had to work so no celebration, but its all good, me mommy knows that i love her. -innocent
The usual way yum cha and take my mom out for dinner at the Chinese restaurant but it is kind of suck because they just give a set menu to select no other choices which I don't like it.
^ i find that super annoying like one time i had a distarous xmas as i asked my dad what he wanted for xmas and he said "dont wast your money" ya now the usual and boy did i regret that as i asked him like a million times so i thought o okay then and bought him a fancy card from clintons and when it got to xmas he proper ripped open the envelope thinking there was more to it and i felt so bad for it...-doh TIP: never ever buy nothing even if they say no...as its all fake deep down they all love presents
ouch that must've hurt big time. i guess it's best not to ask... but i can understand when they say "don't waste your money", just being a good boy/girl all year round is present enough.
nah its a catch 22 as if ya dont ask and you buy them something they really dont want thats bad and if ya dont buy them anything your screwed as well so your damn-ed if ya ask and if ya dont ask... i bought my dad a new shirt in the xmas sales and becuase it was on sale he got 2 for the normal price of one so he was happy after
i thought that mother's day was more a western thing?? hm i usually get flowers for my mum...=) is mother's day the same day everywhere?
nopes in uk its around 20 something of march and in hk and america and canada its around may ish -sweat
I second that. Whenever I buy somethig for her she says that it's a waste of money, and that I should save it for propper use. (Eg: living expenses, 'cause I'm living away from home for uni) I didn't get to see my mum during Mother's day, so I'm going to visit this weekend. On another note, distant phone calls or webcam-age always works. =) Other than that, having a feast and doing some creative arts is good as well. =)
i treated my mom to yum cha......the rest my gift for my mom was waking up at 8 am on a sunday.....(its a gift cus 1. the last time i woke u that early was 4 years ago for high school.... 2. i got home a 4am..... and 3. i had the fattest hang over ever...) we also went dinner... which i also payed for....
haha not exactly, I celebrate the UK one, in fact I didnt even know HK had a seperate one till Sunday, when my mum told me, felt bad... but not my fault didnt even know -blush
