I wonder why giving compliments is such a dying art, I personally suspect that people no longer take compliments on their face value. "Hey you got your hair cut? It's pretty nice" = Does it mean my last haircut was awful? "Hey this dress is really flattering on you" = Does it mean that it would be even BETTER LOOKING on someone else? People have WAY too many second thoughts about compliments.
