In the future we can life much longer, due to better medication.
Create new organs. Just ask my self, how far we can go?
Since in theory you can replace every organ in our body.
The definition of beauty will also be effected since you can engineer your own appearance if you have a platinum insurance :D

Yep, have seen this too on Discovery Channel itself (didn't know you can find whole DC programs on Google video?!) and I think it's very exciting science, knowing we can replace all our organs by either cloning techniques or bio cybertechnology. Pesonally I don't think we can stop the development of cloning just human parts or even a whole human body without a head as a back up machine for the original human who's body parts are falling apart due aging or diseases.

^ with the movement of digitization...i wouldn't be surprised in the near future where a machine would read our brain wave signals...convert then to digital media and essentially download all of our memories into a harddisk

clone organs and body parts would be cool...and would definitely cut down the amount of immunosupressent drugs people need to be on after they get a organ transplant now...but of course the drug companies aren't goin to like that....and thus will repeat a vicious cycle of being dependent on some form of drugs...

^And that, converting our own brain waves into a digital media or download our memories it into a harddisk is something I hope I may witness/experience it! -clapclap

we are actually moving closer...with each itteration of brain wave analyzing techniques...i'm sure that it will be a few years out before we will be able to translate memories and their electrical pulses in the brain to digital media...

digital signal processing now is being used a lot in the health field to better tune how they study heart rate, EKG, EEG..soon we won't need those attachments on us and they'll be able to passively collect data from patients lying on the bed.

In fact their is a company in hawaii...that has started some of that...pretty interesting technlogy that can passively detect heart rate and respiration while a patient is lying in bed

^Thanks for the link, had a quick look at it, bookmarked it and will read it another time.

But yeah, there's already a huge progress in the health field with the brain pulses; people who can't move or talk due a stroke or something like that, can wear that a cap thing that's been hooked up to a special computer and if they think what they want to say or do, it can be done through the computer like converting the electronic pulses from the brain to a robot voice or robot arm.

    It's like telekinesis...:)

    ^ hehe telekenesis....would be awesome

yes technology has really helped to revolutionize the health industry now...people 50 years ago probably couldn't imagine us doing MRI or CT scan on the brain or blood vessesl and getting high res pictures of them...

now if only the doctors could embrace technology when it comes to managing all the billions of health records that are out there...

Speaking of which, the toilet thing in the video, wasn't there already something really in use in Japan? Do your things in the morning and the toilet will analyze your processed food of last night and send the information to the doctor or so?

(or am I mixing fiction with reality? I know it's been described in Supercannes by J.G. Ballard)

^ o how the insurance company would love that....based on what you eat they can decide wat types of health insurance to offer you, and calculate your life expectency and determine how much to charge you for your health insurance....i think its good that you can get an analysis of what you eat and fine tune your diet and medication...then maybe we can have less deaths due to the wrong types of drugs being perscribed and having drug to drug interactions...

I'm not really liking 2057 too much...

There is gonna be a gap so wide between the rich and the poor...

Without privacy, it's just gonna be like the book in "1984" if anyone have read it...
