    *wavey*

I was karaoking this weekend and as trying to learn how to sing 五月天 - 志明與春嬌. Awesome song !!! Even though I don't know Taiwanese, I thought many of the words sounded very similar to Cantonese. My new goal is to learn some Taiwanese now lol.

Anyone from Taiwan here, either originally or currently? What part?

Oh well, might as well close the thread then >.<

Yes, both Fukien Wah & Toi Yu are subtypes of Mun Nam Wah so they are very similar.

Cool. Not many Cantonese like Taiwanese music. Same here (Canto listening to Taiwanese music). I find Taiwanese is much more similar to Canto in pronunciation than to Mandarin.

Never heard of him, but thanks for the vid upload. It is interesting, tho I don't listen to Asian rap much. He looks like one of the rappers of that Korean rap "Dae Han Min Gook"

no worries. he isn't a "pure" taiwanese -- more of an ABT (American born Taiwanese, if there's such a thing. lol.)

Machi is a group, but now more of a label. love "Five Hundred" << i enjoy 吳宗憲's comedic impression of him. and Mayday's older albums are classic.

can't forget about the hugest Taiwanese star -- Jay Chou --

Lol, I catch most of his TV shows here and there all the time. Have you been to his restaurant in Taipei? Is it still there?

Jay Chou is a good song writer with a very unique style that I like very much. But he doesn't sing very well and it's difficult to understand what he's saying. Nevertheless, I play his stuff when I'm driving to work all the time...puts me in a good mood.

By the way, I've been looking for a copy of this video for a while. Thanks =)

i agree. and i'll be more blunt. his singing style sux. if he wasn;t such a musical genius in composition -- his career would have die after his first ablum.

no i haven't been there. i heard what about it -- suppose to be very different and unique.

have you been there before, ribsandbbqbeef?

I went there a few years back and it's in a basement of a building. When you go down, it looks like a dungeon. You can choose to eat in a jail cell or in the common area. While you eat, the staff plays games with the customers. I won a polaroid camera lol....
