Okay, so which one is the best to use and what's the difference between the two? I tried installing both but it doesnt allow it. I did have Norton Internet Security but that expired ages ago but only yesterday I uninstalled it and I downloaded Norton Anti-Viris 2007. But I dunno... I was thinking of getting the NIS 2007. Since that was the one I had originally before expired. Was just thinking shall I leave it or not. I know most off here are norton haters 'cos it takes alot of RAM and it doesn't really protect anything. Which I agree cos it doesn't really block any pop-ups...

Hmmm... at the moment I have:
    - McAfree
    - System Mechanic Pro 2007 [Installed it today] - did have version 6
    - Regisrty Mechanic
    - Norton Anti-Virus 2007
    - CCleaner
    - AVG

What other software is there to protect the internet [hackers, virus, block pop-ups etc.]?

You are running too many anti virus software.
They will conflict with each other.
Norton also doesn't like to play well with other anti virus software.
If a choice between the two, Norton Internet Security since it is all inclusive.
For blocking popups, you have a few options:
    -install firefox along with adblock
-configure tighter security on internet explorer
-get a third party pop up blocker.

i personally wouldnt get NIS or any norton stuff

there are plenty of freeware AV and FW which will do the job just as good and using less resources

Uninstall them all and run only the Norton Internet Security otherwise Norton will have conflicts with them.

why u need so many anti-virus program for?

You just need 1.. i would just use AVG czu it wont eat much out of your system like norton & mcafee does.

Theres a new version called Norton 360, dunno if it's better or worst though, but I heard it uses less RAM.

    Yes. Two different apps.
Norton Internet Security is all inclusive and has norton antivirus among the other offerings..
Norton Anti Virus is a standalone app.

I was into antivirus a while ago because i was trying to be conscious of my computer safety but in reality the 'best antivirus' changes every year when new viruses come out and companies update to combat or fail to do so. I've done avg which runs fast but feel like its not strong enough. I like Norton for the fact that it tells u everytime when something is going to connect to outside and such but that requires some computer understanding as to what the files are and what they are going to do, e.g. blizzard.exe is your game trying to connect which you should allow. But Norton does make your system run slower because its bloated. I hate how some Nortons take over your recycle bin and such though. Painfully annoying.
